Pakistan's parliament condemns U.S. raid, threatens sanctions
    #14450394 - 05/14/11 10:17 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- Pakistan's parliament threatened Saturday to cut off access to a facility used by NATO forces to ferry troops into Afghanistan, signaling a growing rift that began when U.S. commandos killed Osama bin Laden during a raid on a Pakistani compound.
http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/05/14/pakistan.bin.laden/index.html?hpt=T2

Wow, its amazing how much stupid is in the world we live in. Just let this whole
Osama thing end already. This will do nothing but cause more problems.

I agree.

It doesn't seem like they have that voice in your head, that thing that takes a third person's view of the situation, and decide whats right from there.

Edit:

"A resolution adopted during a joint session of parliament condemned the U.S. action."

When I first read this I saw,"A resolution adopted burning a joint".

Lol they did "break the rules" by conducting a military mission inside of a country they weren't authorized to be in.

But who cares, they're all a bunch of liars.

Pakistan is very tribal.

Pissing off "parliament" is equivalent to saying we angered a small, rich faction who is vastly different than the rest of the country -- which is itself compartmentalized.

first thing you need to understand, this is a UN/NATO mission, the seal team
that hit bin Laden were under the command of NATO, Pakistan is threatening to
close a base that's in use by NATO inside to borders of Pakistan, what this
means is that they are authorized to be there and while this strike inside
the borders of Pakistan may seem unprecedented, Obama has already hit several
targets inside Pakistan with both troops and predator drones...

where's their outrage from that shit?

well I'll tell you... it seems that in the past when bin Laden was located
and plans to hit him were passed on to the pakistani government the plan
was compromised and bin Laden escaped so on this one they were not
informed so they couldnt warn their buddy and he didnt get away, now under
this war on terrorism Pakistan has harbored  terrorists and should be
considered an enemy so I say good for Pakistan, let them kick NATO out,
let them stop selling their crappy knives in the US and we should cut all
aid to Pakistan and impose sanctions and blockade Pakistan so they cant
import/export anything and then if we're in a generous mood, hit their
nuclear sites so they have no means of posing a serious risk to any of
their neighbors... yes, Pakistan is a nuclear/world power

it's so ambiguous because it's always been GW's war until Obama took office,
now it's suddenly NATO/UN forces except on the few occasions someone screws
up and still believes Bush is in office

None of this makes a difference anyways.  And I love how most people's first answer to posts like this is to say fuck you to the "oppossing side", impose sanctions and shit.  If we were to cut foreign spending for the reasons of completely withdrawing OUR military bases from over 140 different countries I'd agree,  but doing it in the spirit of punishing a government just as incompetent as ours is pointless to the overall situation and changes nothing- plus the only people that ever suffer from sanctions are the bottom of the social cast.

That's not true. Would the bottom cast suffer if we stopped giving them hundreds of millions in military aid?

No, I guess they wouldn't if it was explicitly military aid that was diminished...like that would happen.  We've been too trusting of the ISI since the late 70's and I'm willing to say that some seriously profitable partnerships have evolved between them and our CIA along with other western agencies.

Pakistan can fuck themselves. We've been giving them money hand over fist for decades, they promise us bin Laden is not in their country, and whoops, looks like he is, and not only that but he's in the nicest suburb in the nicest part of the country, 40 miles from the capital and across the street from Pakistan's top military academy.

They have no right. :gc:

As far as I can tell things are drawing down, we're making plans to hightail it out of the middle-east, bin Laden is dead... things are fucked-up in Libya but that's not really our war, we're just giving Europe a hand while Gadhafi suffocates (and good riddance to him).

Are you new to politics? The international policy pond is mighty placid right now. Iraq 2006 was a nightmare.

Hey, nice rebuttal

Plans actually are being made to withdraw troops from Afghanistan and Iraq. I'm sure we'll always maintain some presence there but the days of occupation are coming to an end.

on that, playing both sides. isn't it more like playing 4 sides? from what i've heard, the last few decades, pakistan not only played both sides in this al qaeda thing, but in issues with india and other countries neighboring their border as well. from what i've heard pakistan is pretty much, a right in the middle, part european, part middle eastern, part asian piece of shit. now although I know it isn't in india, or in europe, that it's in the middle east, don't they kind of have their hands dirty in just a little of each of those continents issues?

and while they are certainly a nuclear power, in a world war they'd be whiped off the face of the earth like the smudge they are. i don't know fuck em

then again we don't need more issues like we had with iran and the shah in the 80's and saddam and iraq in the 80's as well. we didn't really do anything, we just used our 'influence' to try and get each country to wipe each other out by selling weapons to both sides when they were at war.

i'm sure with pakistan, we'd try and not get too involved, we'd just pull a libya. feed their enemies duppoty and do a few jet strikes here and there, so you know, we don't look 'too involved'

fucking a. anyone wonder why the u.s. never gets sanctioned? i mean not really. no one is going to fuck with us. no one dumb enough except maybe a stupid sand nigger named bin laden :rofl2:

But again, I just *don't* care.

do you care what people would be upset? do you want those mexican drug lords to just shimmy across the border and make their way into places like texas and what not? come on across and remove your problem from our country i say.

What's wrong with being a drug lord?

what's wrong with reading comprehension?

Exactly. We just killed the world's most wanted man and the person responsible for coordinating the 9/11 attacks and other acts of terrorism. They should be thanking us. Instead they are butthurt because they look weak and stupid for him turning up, not in a cave somewhere, but in a compound inside their country.

How about posting something of substance instead of opposing people without giving any argument.

You assume that the "facts" you hear and or believe in are indeed true

Lol they did "break the rules" by conducting a military mission inside of a country they weren't authorized to be in.

first thing you need to understand, this is a UN/NATO mission, the seal team
that hit bin Laden were under the command of NATO, Pakistan is threatening to
close a base that's in use by NATO inside to borders of Pakistan, what this
means is that they are authorized to be there and while this strike inside
the borders of Pakistan may seem unprecedented, Obama has already hit several
targets inside Pakistan with both troops and predator drones...

where's their outrage from that shit?

well I'll tell you... it seems that in the past when bin Laden was located
and plans to hit him were passed on to the pakistani government the plan
was compromised and bin Laden escaped so on this one they were not
informed so they couldnt warn their buddy and he didnt get away, now under
this war on terrorism Pakistan has harbored  terrorists and should be
considered an enemy so I say good for Pakistan, let them kick NATO out,
let them stop selling their crappy knives in the US and we should cut all
aid to Pakistan and impose sanctions and blockade Pakistan so they cant
import/export anything and then if we're in a generous mood, hit their
nuclear sites so they have no means of posing a serious risk to any of
their neighbors... yes, Pakistan is a nuclear/world power

This is a pretty good assessment except for one thing. The US needs Pakistan just as much as Pakistani military regime needs the US aid. As said there are a lot of tribal groups that make up most of the country. If there regime were to collapse it would create a power vacuum and the fact that they have nuclear weapons is also scary. Without a regime to protect those weapons, those materials can be transported anywhere. Sure the government is corrupt but by far less than the other options.

For all the political newbs out there. Pakistan is obligated to make a statement condemning the raid because the raid makes them look illegitimate with the people. To ensure they can control all the tribal groups, the terrorist attacks on their own soil (just happened killing dozens), and all the nuclear weapons they hold as a deterrent against India.

The Pakistani government and military is supposed to protect the public from tribal terrorists coming through the porous border in Afghanistan and from India. Having the American's roll in and embarrass them makes them look useless. Thus, winning more funding and public opinion in favor of terrorists.

I have just been having a piss at you.

You said he is the man that orchestrated the 9/11 attacks. There is not even
any solid proof of that at all except for possibly "taking credit" for the event.

Fuck this guy. His death will change nothing about this war. This war is being
fought out by a people who are sick of seeing their family's killed by our forces and
others and are choosing to fight back. I dont blame them.

Fuck both sides. Both are acting like children and doing nothing to make the situation
any better and rather the opposite.

Exactly. We just killed the world's most wanted man and the person responsible for coordinating the 9/11 attacks and other acts of terrorism. They should be thanking us. Instead they are butthurt because they look weak and stupid for him turning up, not in a cave somewhere, but in a compound inside their country.

You sound exactly like brainwashed people in the Soviet Union and the Third Reich used to say, hell, even those people participating in jihad. With all this shit happening, I don't see how the US is better than others and why the fuck would anyone have to thank them. 'Oooh, we're so strong and we can do shit others can't and they can't do shit to us, because we're so strong, hellz yeah' it's a speech of a fucking retard. Most Americans have a point of view way too narrow.

a compound a block away from a police station, and a few blocks away from their version of 'west point'

it's like they were harboring him. ok wait no no sarcasm at all they weren't harboring him it's just that their military police are so weak that a guy like bin laden can be living 5 blocks away from a HUGE military base, walk right in and like start the timer on a nuclear bomb.

it'd be kind of weird if we end up showing the public some satellite photos of bin laden playing golf and shit with like pakistans biggest military leaders, smoking weed and shit hahaha
