Increasing vs. decreasing human population * 2

The clueless numb-nuts here would have you believe that both are signs that something is very wrong.

Can't be both ways. :sorry:

I love how you enjoy lecturing people on their improper debate style and the various fallacies you detect in their arguments, and then you poop out stuff like this and call it a "post".

You are a harsh critic of everything except your own work, it would seem.

Which particular category of debate fallacy does calling your opponents a "clue-less numb-nuts" fall under?

The "resorting to name-calling right away" fallacy?

Jordan Black,

Name calling and personalisms are against the rules in PS&P. This is something only you have done in this thread.

If you can't debate the topic without resorting to calling people names, then don't post in PS&P. Consider this your warning.

Read the rest of the rules here before you post again:

2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

Name calling is ok as long as you don't specifically point at anyone.  Yeah, it's dumb, but that's just the rule here.

It's not dumb. If things weren't that way, you couldn't call republicans in general stoopid.

Good point.
It's just that sometimes that loophole is used to be a bully within the law (at least from my perspective).

I still don't get how an increasing human population is bad because it uses more resources

which may lead to a

decreasing human population which uses less resources and is also bad.

Any takers? Come on, now. This was the apparent stance taken by several members who were quite adamant in their views. I will even retract the numb-nuts slam if you can state your case with some degree of clarity.

I must say, the term "numb-nuts" is very relevant to a discussion on population...

I say both are signs that something is wrong. Whether the population increases or decreases should be up to individual choices, not mass control. In the end, our choices and nature will decide whether our numbers increase or decrease.

Mass control is a result of the choices of individuals.  :hehehe:

It's not, as you can see by looking at our lovely planet Earth.

It can't go both ways when talking about the same thing. An increasing population means more resource are going to be used up. That would be bad from my perspective. On the other hand, an increasing population increases the possibility that something useful for humanity will be discovered (good). It could also mean that something destructive is going to be discovered (bad). They each have their pros and cons. When something is a pro for me, it can't be a con. Unless you think its a con, which means it can't be a pro for you.
