It's 5% here...
I like both beer and wine.. a lot. I'd take beer over wine though.

Most of the time I prefer wine, especially indoors. But as summer approaches, I start drinking more beer. I love sitting out in my back yard on a hot sunny day drinking a cold lager or wheat beer.

been on a booze hiatus for half a year now, but when i was drinking wine was my go to alcohol.
if you're looking for the most bang for your buck i'd say go with Bota Box. You need to pay a little more up front (usually around $20 a box) because you're buying in a larger quantity than usual but it's very much worth it. Basically comes out to four bottles worth of pretty good wine for around 5 bucks a bottle.
i used to strap this box to my bike, ride down to the beach, sit around a fire with good friends and have everyone stoked by the end of the box (four bottles of wine goes a looooooong way).
i would highly recommend the Old Vine Zin if you can find it.

If you wanna get drunk really hard and really fast, then you should be drinking absinthe not wine.
Yes, Absinthe is bottled at a high proof, somewhere around 62% ABV, but water is invariably added to the drink at a 3:1-5:1 ratio, tempering to approx 12% ABV, the same as most wines.
There are also many great wines at low price-points, whereas for a good Absinthe, you'll pay at least $55. There's not much difference in cost effectiveness.

Beer and wine give you completely different states of spirit, wine for example is good for a quiet, intimate night with close friends. It's definitely doesn't give social point. Beer you can drink as many pints as you can handle, you get pretty social plus it's cheap and you can start the night by drinking it and 10 hours later you're loaded but are still able to drink it.
You could also probably try Tuborg.
While experientially, spirits, wine and beer are all unique because of the process and ingredients by which they are made, there's nothing that says you can't drink wine and watch a football game, or have a romantic night with Kentucky bourbon.
I don't understand this "social points" factor. If you drink good stuff, you have good taste, and that's it. In a social situation, I wouldn't care what you were drinking... if it was wine from a box, Budweiser, rotgut whiskey or artificially colored/flavored Absinthe that you lit on fire before you drank, I'd feel bad for you that you had no class and didnt know how to enjoy the finer things.

It's not an unheard of categorization, but generally "booze" refers to liquor.

i will retool my definition
me + hard alcohol = puking and passing out in random peoples hot tubs/sidewalk in front of 7/11 with some middle eastern guy standing over me threatening to call the cops (this was many years ago, mind you. but i've learned my lesson well)
