I've got this bag of hemp "straw", that I use in my rat's cage.. you know, as litter.. can I use it as a fruiting substrate for yellow oysters??? I know hemp has alot of fiber and other nutrients...
P.S. I might even get THC containing oysters!! just joking...

I think that would be well possible , the oysters grow on a variety of substrates and as you mentioned , it contains cellulose , from what i've been reading on different forums it is not picky on where it grows , inside the spores spreading could lead to mushrooms growing on doors and windows and other wood used for the construction of the house

I would not really be overly concerned with mushrooms eating your house. House lumber is is too dry, or covered with paint. In addition it is often treated in various ways to prevent microbial growth. If your house has lumber wet enough to be fungus food, then you have more fundamental problems.

I do not think this will happen. I have grown a lot of oysters in my house, and it seems to be fine
