Do you consider yourself an environmentalist?
I will define environmentalist as follows: someone who cares about the state of the natural environment, and is willing to make some changes to their lifestyle as a result.

No, buy mostly because I reject your definition of what environmentalism actually is.

How would you define environmentalism?

I would define it as a concern for the long-term ecological sustainability of human social and economic activity. Personal lifestyle changes are but one manifestation of that concern, and, I would argue, a more trivial one. The more important applications of environmentalism are public policy and business practices.

I am a free-market environmentalist. I basically think that the only way any of us can gauruntee the environment is if we divide it up and own it outright.
The government is made up of crooks and scoundrels who lie while smiling at you. They sell logging rights in supposed forest reserves and all other manner of scumbaggery.
This is not even mentioning how unbelievably inept they are at almost everything they attempt. I was watching a show the other day where forest rangers were complaining about poaching in Yellowstone. There are like under a hundred rangers trying to gaurd thousands of square miles, its simply impossible and would only be attempted by an agency as stupid as the government.
Less land and more gaurds is the obvious solution, but how much does this little detail influence ANYONE's vote? Not at all. If some individual or privately run organization owned yellowstone it youw be in much better, and more adaptable hands.
If we own land and have ample respect for private property we can protect that land forever from all pollution as pollution is an illegal tresspass.

I voted no.
Mainly because most of the "environmentalist" folks are nuts.
I do my own to make my footprint small and I don't make changes to "my lifestyle" to make it happen.
I clean up camp sites better than I found them and I also waste water like nothing else. Why do I waste water... because there is a huge fucking river near my house and water is not a concern, and in a month I will be on a well.
I also support logging. Just leave those redwoods alone.
I support proper use of the environment.
