Help on melbourne ID
    #14443610 - 05/13/11 02:52 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

First timer here, was hoping some more knowledgeable people could have a look at what I have.  Found probably 50 of them all growing in patches near each other.

Habitat:
Found growing on the south facing hill in a local park.  Was growing in and around bark/twigs.

Gills:
Light brown/creamy brown.  Seem to be attached to the stem but they curve upwards first.  Blue bruising around the edges where they got squished a bit.

Stem:
3-10CM long, white, stringy texture, kind of hollow but not quite there yet.

Cap:
Brown, smoothish, see photos.

Spore print color:
Hard to tell, but me and my sister both think it looks brown and slightly purple.

Bruising:
Blue

Other information:
Smells like store bought mushrooms

PLEASE NOTE: I have started drying these, I have other pics of when they were fresh.

Awesome, was giving up hope during the walk and then on the way back to the car they were just all through the grass and on the side of a hill. Defiantly going back tomorrow.

Is there any look a likes that I could be fooled by?

subtacular subs man!

The Australasian season is kicking preposterous emounts of epic ass, and the amount of positive NZ and AUS IDs are proof.

Winning!

All the rain I think, after a 13 year drought it was bound to happen.

Just need to get better at photography now, bloody hard coordinating light, focus, steady hand, etc.

Yes, several ones. Some will only give you gastrointestinal discomfort of varying intensity, but then there is Galerina marginata, too, which is deadly poisonous:

I think he was responding to the OP, GK.

I can't tell if you knew that and you're joking, or not. I'm confused. :\

Relax, the photos of the mushrooms you found are 100% safe and magic. I don't want you starting a trip then worrying about it. When you start to trip you will realize they are the right ones.

Have a good time!!! :discorex:

So you took them 30 mins ago and now are off to bed? Man that would have never worked for me.  :paranoid:
