Low yields

My friend wanted me to ask a question about low yields. He's using 2 brf cakes on verm casing. His recent first flush yielded him 29.2 wet grams. Anyone have any idea why the yield was so low? Thanks

Because BRF cakes suck. Try casing them or moving on to grains and poo.

That would depend on a lot of things, but you are better off casing IMO.

its because you cased with verm...straight verm is usually a weak casing...next time use 50/50 or coco

two major factors affecting yield aside from substrate are:
1. air exchange
co2 buildup can lead to few, short, skinny, generally disappointing mushrooms
2. availability of moisture in substrate
mushrooms are +/-90% water, to support a large, healthy flush, you're going to need to make sure that there is plenty of it available in the substrate.
try dunking your cakes before casing or other means of rehydration before and between flushes.
