I thought for sure that, that statue was going to fall on that guy. I wouldn't say i was crying but i felt really good and likened it to being in prison since birth and then one day you're free to do what you want to do. I think the whole world should feel how good it is to be free.

Funny.. I've seen lots of footage of the Iraqis jumping up and down cheering Saddam. Now Saddam's gone, and the most powerful military in the world is occupying Iraq. Cheering freedom or appeasing the new occupying forces out of fear for their lives? Not that I think they should be fearing for their lives at all, I'm just wondering what they're actually thinking.. It's hard to know not being them, so I wouldn't be so quick to pretend to know the motivation behind their actions.

freedom may be something they've wanted, but they do not "know" freedom. I was not comparing iraqis to animals i was making an analogy between not having the skills required to survive in a new enviornment. Do they know about business? free trade? economics? People say that the iraqis were brainwashed sheep cowering in fear, but what makes you think that just because they got what they wanted they are ready and prepared to deal with it? This remains to be seen, but sincerely doubt it with thier poor education, and americans standing by with "a helping hand" or in the other comparisson, the same as "free food".

Im implying the iraqis dont understand what accepting american aid means for thier future "freedom" which will be whatever america tells them it is, because they've never had freedom to begin with or to c0mpare to. Also i think the US will be going over to syria, turkey, and iran...all in good time. First they need to establish themselves in iraq....or "help re-build".

Hmmm, well i see where your coming from, and you make excellent points! But what if....and i say i tentatively...what if the american goal in iraq isn't as humanitarian as they claim it is? What if this is to be a power seat in which they may "liberate" other muslim regimes? You cannot deny the have a hundred times more to gain from unoble intentions, and looking at your current governments history, it is all disturbingly convenient. I would like to think like you....i really would, its just i've read to much to be spoon fed the "we're doing this for the iraqi people" crap.

maybe, but although i don't trust bush, i think his intentions are to stablize the middle east, not conquer it. Of course he will try and benefit himself and his friends as much as he can along the way. Exactly why he'd conquer it. How else can you bring peace? After america leaves it will be back the way it was for hundreds of years..

umm.. free democracies? america needs to learn from the mistakes of the past. we need to be unselfish when dealing with the people of these countries, and attempt to educate them and make them as self-sufficient as possible. if we can do this, we can leave the middle east to themselves. It will probably take decades though.

But such noble intentions from a shitbag like bush.  I read about him, and see the current situation and something doesn't add up.
How do you feel about patriot act and such? Isn't it very coincidental that all these new measures are being implemented during this war, when 9/11 was two years ago?!...how long will it stay this way? as long as necsessary? The war on terrorism shall continue long after we're dead.
If bush was a strong leader with a solid background...or even a few members of his government, my sentiment may be different, but look at them!

i agree, but that still isnt a reason for not going into iraq. The only top guy i can think of who i would call good is Powell, and even he's been questionable lately....
