Found these on leaf-litter. Are they a good sign that I'm looking in th right places for subs?

Thanks

When trying to ID Amanita you should make sure to dig up the entire stem base, the whole underground bulb.

To answer your second question: No. Amanita muscaria is not really an indicator for woodloving Psilocybe species. An indicator mushroom should be one that shares one or several (preferrably unique) characteristics with the mushroom you are looking for with regards to preferred habitat. Amanita muscaria grows mycorrhizal with a wide range of trees, coniferes as well as deciduous hardwoods (apparently in Australia mostly in association with pine trees). And the presence of leaf litter alone is not enough to make a spot a likely place to find P. subaeruginosa at. Look for woodchipped landscaping, mulched areas and wooden debris rather then just leafs on the ground.

If you are looking for good indicator species for P.Subs, looks for Leratiomyces ceres, AKA those prolific, red capped, almost sub-like mushrooms. Often you will find subs growing in literal milimetre proximity to the red capped strophs
You want subs? then make dead wood your friend, train your brain to scan any woodchips you see, all the time, no matter how public it is. You will be amazed how abundant these things are
