I talked to a friend I hadn't talked to in a long time last night (this really isn' t me) and he was telling me about a time he ate an ounce of dried shrooms once. He said it was horrible. He said he couldn't move and he just laid in his bed and TRIPPED OUT. He said he hasn't been the same since. Has anyone else here ever eaten anywhere near that much?

One of my friends actually ate 15 dried grams before. Said he just wanted to experience what a really high dose was really like. I told him he was stupid and he would regret it. He didn't head my warning, blended the 15 grams of shrooms up in some OJ and downed it.
He started to freak out after like 20 minutes, telling me that he was higer then he had ever been and the his hallucenations were extremly intense. After that he practically went catatonic, just staring off into space. He mumbled to himself alot... curled up in a ball in a corner, rocked back and forth and giggled and gasped every so often. I would ask him if he was ok and he would look at me completly startled like he didn't even know I was in the room or who the hell I was. Then he would stare at me in horror, like I was an alien or something.
Sometimes he would muster up some courage and crawl into the middle of the room and touch a dust bunny that was in the middle of the carpet. He would reach out and touch it and withdraw is hand really fast and just look it in awe.
He laid on his back in the middle of the room just looking blankly up at the celing. Every so often he would say something really obscure, like "My dog's still here with me, take her outside to eat." I found the situation quite comical!
He came back into reality 4 or 5 hours later. He was still too high to comprehend what was going on but he knew who he was and who I was. He told me he was having a really bad time and the experience was way to intense for him. There were times where he'd still go in and out of it. I turned on some music hoping that would calm him down... it only freaked him out more because he had a hard time understanding how music was playing off a CD and coming out of speakers. Then he didn't know if the music was in his head or actually coming out of the stereo. I turned off the music and he told me that it was still playing. I had to unplug the stereo from the wall to show him that it wasn't on.
By this time I was really tired, it was 3 am in the morning and I wanted to get some sleep. He said he was still really high and was scared he would never come down. I gave him a few of my mom's xanax to calm him down. I told him what I was giving him and that it would help him calm down. As soon as he swallowed the pills he instantly clamed down. He just mellowed out and eventually fell asleep around 6 am. I stayed up with him the whole time just to make sure he was ok.
That was 5 years ago. He was an avid shroomer before hand but after that trip he hasn't even looked at a mushroom nor will drink OJ anymore. HE says he can't even remember what happened but he knows he didn't enjoy any part of the experience.

It wouldn't cause brain damage, but might generate a psychological distorder.

sure can... can surface underlying psychological problems or can generate psychological disorders. Or perhaps the psychological disorders that are "generated" were already there.... in any case it can cause or lead to psychological disorders.

Ive triped in large doses of acid and the more I took the more it seemed that I could handle higher doses and stronger trips..
Acid is much diferent than Shrooms... I still dont have the balls to take a large dose of shrooms, at most Ill eat 5 grams but have only done that a few times and dont plan on it again...

I'm scared shitless to do anymore then 3.5 grams. Had a bad trip on that dose once and fuck man, I havn't been the same since, but will do shrooms again eventually but am taking a break for a while...mind you last week I was trippin balls off of my medication mixed with Gravol and pot. That kind of made me feel better about tripping because I had a great time.

Yeah , we should for sure discriminate in the FAQ the difference between a LD-50, HD-50 (h for heroic) and TD-50 ( t for traumatic)

For some of us 5g is a museum dose,the dose you take for thanksgiving dinner or christmas.10g is for a "real" trip and an oz is ego loss.Before someone screams tolerance these dosages are spaced 30-60 days apart and part of an overall health plan.
Shrooms.... not just for tripping anymore!

I wouldn't recommend eating an ounce of dried mushrooms because it seems like it would be extremely hard to remember everything that went on, and I don't know how useful an experience can be if you don't remember it (But of course, to counter that idea; do you remember your birth?).
