mindf*** dreams, should my friend drop or not?

well my friend and i each took 5 hits of some pretty strong lsd and decided to hang out with my other friend who i will call B. B drinks and smokes bud (but very rarely) but has never tripped before. i asked him if he'd ever want to try it with me but he said he wasnt so sure. i asked him why and he said he thinks he might be "borderline borderline (yes on the border of the border) schizophrenic." i asked him what he meant and he told me about a recurring dream he had for months straight when he was 10.
in this dream, he would be waking up in a hospital bed from a coma, surrounded by his friends and family, but they all were completely different than in real life, just looked the same. he would think that his real life had only been a coma dream.
just hearing this was a mindfuck to think about because (to me at least) this is a VERY strange dream, especially for a 10 year old. so my question is, do you think this could be an underlying sign of some mental psychosis? should my friend stay away from psychedelics or just try a low dose?

thats what i was thinking but other than that dream story he seems completely normal socially and is very smart and a deep thinker. he loves drinking so being impaired doesnt bug him. the crazy thing is that ive had thoughts similar to his dream while on acid many times, kinda in a "what if" scenario

i would never force him to drop or try to persuade him, i was just curious what you guys thought. if he ever did decide to trip it would be at his own discretion without any peer pressure. thanks for the responses!

I seriously don't think that dream is anything strange or abnormal it doesn't even sound that bad...
...if my friend told me he had dreams like that when he was 10, or fuck even 5, I would think nothing of it. If hes saying he had these thoughts when he was 10... only 10 think about how old you are now... probably 19-20, yeah, now think about how long ago you were fucking 10. You would believe any crazy shit your mind could come up with. Doesn't mean your crazy.
Hell, I remember when I was around 10, 12, I would sometimes on long car rides just stare out the window and think about all this crazy shit that would get my mind boggled... like what it would be like to live through someone else's eyes... if aliens were typing what us humans were saying on a keyboard and that was our "thought" ect.... it sounds like to me your friend just doesn't want to drop and this is his way of getting around the "peer pressure".

he's not the kind of person to make up excuses or try to copout with some story. he's extremely interested in the psychedelic experience but he seemed legitamtely worried that he might have something wrong mentally. i guess i can agree that the dream isnt TOO weird but for it to be recurring as often as it was is a little strange

yes. you remember vague ideas of what you thought when you were a child.
he is explaining this recurring dream in detail. and to me the OP is explaining it like it actually does have a great deal of influence over his friend.
to remember a single recurring dream 12 years after it happened. and furthermore to think that maybe you shouldnt do psychs because of something that happened 12 years ago?
he does not have the mindset for these kind of dr00gs

Meh. That's not that weird. I've dreamed much, much weirder, more "mind fucky", and nothing I've tried has messed me up.

but did you ever truly have a concern that the dream would mess you up?
thats what im saying. its not the fact that he had a weird dream thats weird.
im saying the fact that he is worried about it means he shouldnt do it

start him off with a gram or 2 of shrooms, B4 he ever takes lsd, that way he can test his mental well being. And if he flips its only 4-6 hrs not 10-14

Having a weird and reoccurring dream when you're ten doesn't mean you're schizophrenic. If he is worried about having mild case of schizophrenia, then he should get evaluated but if that dream is the only thing making him believe he has it, then he probably doesn't.

thanks for the responses everyone. it isnt just the dream, he had seen a psychologist for a while when he was around middle school age and had been put on medication that he is now off. but what worried me about the dream was that it was the first thing that came to his mind when i mentioned acid..whether he thinks so or not i believe that this means its pretty important to the subject at hand

dont get me wrong,, IF i got a bad feeling about somebody I am sure I wouldnt press the issue,, but a silly dream from childhood is perfect to explore on LSD

I think he would be fine, schizophrenia runs in my family, and my schizo uncle swears that trips are alot like a schizophrenic episode, I dont see any problems with a mentally ill person taking drugs. Its the mentally ill person who takes drugs alone, that scares me.
