Off my SSRI now

I recently stopped my SSRI with the supervision of my doctor after my depression had ended. I want to take MDMA soon but there seems to be no clear evidence on how long to wait to be able to get the full effect of MDMA after stopping an SSRI. Does any one know?

It is recommended to wait at least a month after stopping the SSRI completely before taking MDMA.
However, keep in mind that the reason you were taking an SSRI was likely because of a serotonin imbalance in your brain. Since MDMA floods your receptors with serotonin, it can cause that imbalance to be further imbalanced, causing a depression worse than before.
Taking 5-htp after you roll can help reduce the chances of that.
Remember, one month is the minimum. Chances are, it will be months before you will be able to not have diminished effects.

Congrats on getting off of that. I was on an SSRI for anxiety a little over a year ago and I stopped cold turkey because I didn't like how it made me feel (and I didn't like that I couldn't really trip). Withdrawal was pretty bad. I agree with everyone, you should wait a month. I would also advise you to take a reasonable dose. Don't overdo it or you could fall back into your depression (as mentioned). Good luck.

what would 5-htp do for after mdma ? is it to make your mood better ? it wont help in the long run if so... if mdma was going to make u depressed 5-htp wont stop it.

Fixed.
The half-life of most SSRIs is a matter of days. My ex-gf would skip one dose of her SSRI and roll the next day just fine. (She would then resume her daily SSRI routine.)
I don't think there should be any danger in doing MDMA soon.
Be careful with that 5-HTP stuff though.

That signature is jaw-dropping-gorgeous.
A little side-story about SSRI's:
Thought I needed them during a dark time in my life, thus I approached a doctor. The doctor pushed the diagnosis of depression down my throat like a veritable deep-throat.
They turned me into a zombie. I was neither happy, nor sad - simply hazy. Dazed by this foul drug, I decided to drop it - cold turkey.
Somehow fought off the immediate mental breakdown following the decision to stop using. (I would cry for no reason, rage at inappropriate moments - and yet, I persevered.
How?
Met Lucy.
Now? All better!
Moral of the story:
SSRI's can suck a pimple covered dick. They just don't work.
So those of you who are depressed and want happy pills, look elsewhere and stop fucking pandering to the pharmaceuticals and their get-rich-quick schemes.
Lucy and her gang of shrooms have done more for my mental clarity and positive mind-set than any damn serotonin raping pill could ever do.

fatppl12 -- I agree! I was put on Prozac because I was tired and depressed, and it only made me more tired.. and depressed. I also cried for like 2-3 hrs nonstop after I took a double dose of Prozac one day (cuz I thought maybe upping the dose would help)..
I haven't had the good fortune to meet Lucy yet, but mescaline and Molly have showed me a whole new world! I was like 'Oh shit, psychedelics are bad, they make me see that the world is a beautiful place and now I might NEVER want to die ' lol.
To answer the OP's question - I would think that it would depend on how long you took Prozac for.. but 10 days is probably a safe bet (see article)

I would not recommend using mdma if you have depression or manic depression. What mdma does is it takes all the available serotonin already in your brain and uses it all up completely. It doesn't make MORE serotonin like what other drugs do. Basically, it's like putting a car in 5th gear and letting it run all day until it crashes. From PERSONAL experience, using ecstasy made me depressed the week after I used it. I did it when I was 15. About 6 months after I did it, my mind felt retarded. I couldn't think as fast as I could before and I couldn't remember certain words while talking, like when you forget words after smoking weed. It sucked.
If you want to use a consciousness expending/euphoria producing drug, I would just use LSD or mushrooms or something else. MDMA makes "neurotoxins." It is the only drug known to do this.
In regards to taking 5-htp, if you want it to be effective, take it about a week prior to using mdma. Taking it prior will give your brain more serotonin for the mdma to use up. Taking 5-htp after doing mdma is useless, as your brain has no serotonin at that point. Just don't take 5-htp the same day you plan on taking mdma.
