that is cause it makes absolutely no sense what so ever. skyline is a horrible movie I dont understand how people can like it, dont be distracted by the shiny blue lights, heh. Everyone has an opinion and can like whatever they want, but I just have a hard time understanding how it can be. Battle LA was a better movie then SKYLINE, used the same effects crew you can kinda see similarities, but that movie had better dialog and storyline, they weren't great but they were relatively better then skyline. cheers :boobs:

that is true it was like a practice movie. Even filmmakers practice their craft and movies like this are a result. Not really that good but for that mount of money blown on it not really that bad. Its not like its battlefield earth with the church of scifags or something. That was hilariously terrible.

Everyone who made this movie gained a little experience from it and is now better. The effects guys who did this went on to a better film and did a great job. some movies are brilliant some fail when they try to be awesome and some are just made to be made but still suck. This seems like they made it to make it without hopes of billions being made but it ended up being better then they hoped. No real story other then character interaction and its kinda neat ending as I like that kind but you don't see it often.

If some really creative people come up with a way to continue it with a bigger budget and actors who do not suck so bad it might be interesting. Chance of that are less then 1% but who knows. I really do want a district ten to come out though. A rescue or something with an invasion and eslavement.

what end? there was no end, it had no conclusion not even the notion of an end so we can assume what happened. lol it ended right in the middle of a sequence of events like someone knocked something over and it just ended abrutly, I dont understand this, I know its creative and maybe they just did it so people would talk about it, like the blair witch phenomenon.

filming only cost 50,000$ for skyline, they spent the rest of the 10,000,000$ budget on effects, this translates into what you have, a very nice looking movie that just sucks in most every other aspect. Its like a porno, but without tits and ass. No one cares what they are saying or doing, but things sure look nice.:boobs:

its funny how Sony is attempting to sue them;

Sony Accuses 'Skyline' of... Making a Low-Budget Blockbuster
Quote:

Sony, the studio behind the $100 million alien invasion movie “Battle: Los Angeles,” is accusing the producers of a similar-themed movie of ripping off equipment and ideas for their lower budget production.

The producers denied the charge to TheWrap and said the issue was really that they had made a low-budget blockbuster that was coming out before Sony's.

Either way, audiences are going to be treated to two aliens-invade-Los Angeles movies in the next six months.

But not if Sony can help it.

Sony sent a letter to Hydraulx, the producers of “Skyline” and the company that did the special effects for “Battle,” demanding it cease and desist from using equipment that the studio says it owns.

“We demand you stop breaching your visual effects agreement,” the letter reads. The letter also says the studio would not have hired Hydraulx to do special effects had it know about the Skyline project.

But Hydraulx said Sony's charges were meritless, and that the real reason for the letter is that Sony wants to force Hydraulx to move its release date until after "Battle" debuts in March 2011.

"Skyline" is scheduled to be released on Nov. 12, 2010.

Hydraulx co-founder Greg Strause said that producer Neal Moritz was  told about their movie last fall. Moritz says that is not the case, according to a knowledgeable individual.

And Strause told TheWrap he was offended at the notion that they had stolen anything.

"We utterly deny" using' Battle LA' equipment on 'Skyline,' said Strause, who with his brother Colin is the co-director of 'Skyline'. "That’s highly offensive. It’s completely untrue."

Strause denied using any ideas from "Skyline" in "Battle: Los Angeles."

"We’ve been in the alien invasion business for many years before Battle LA," said Strause. "The first movie I directed was an alien invasion, called 'Alien Vs Predator: Requiem.' That’s one of the reasons they came to us, we do computer generated aliens well."

Sony declined to comment for this article.

The studio was shown footage from Skyline and was offered the opportunity to distribute it earlier this year, and declined.

Only later, after seeing the 'Skyline' trailer debuted to a big audience reaction at Comic-Con, the studio worried that it had essentially financed a cheap knock-off of its big-budget science fiction film, the individual told TheWrap

“Skyline” is a $20 million film directed by Greg and Colin Strause, who also worked on the special effects for “Avatar.” It centers on a group of friends in Los Angeles who struggle to survive an alien attack. Its gritty theme has earned it comparisons to “District 9.”

“Battle” stars Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez and centers on a marine platoon that faces off against alien forces ... in, of course, L.A. That film is more reminiscent of "Black Hawk Down" or "The Hurt Locker."

Snoot.....all your tidbits of info are opinionated. That is what killed the movie. It had an end and was designed for a 2nd movie.

I give the guys credit because it follows untraditional scenarios that people are afrai of-the end of humankind. The brain thing makes sense too.

Anyhow, Im done ranting. I want to see Battle LA. I will write some after I see it and come to a conclusion on which one is the best alien movie.

I am 100% behind snoot on this one. The movie made no sense.

Hydraulx is a vfx company and you can see it all over the place.. Skyline is essentially one giant action set piece. there is no real plot escalation, lighting is fucking terrible, looks like they only had one location to shoot on, the ending is completely incomprehensible.. no setup, no explanation.. nothing..

the characters were spared from being sucked up but an extremely advanced civilization by window blinds
the aliens are powered by the brains of human beings.. kinda inconvenient considering they dont live on the same planet..
one dude assumes he is able to kill an alien by igniting gas from his kitchen stove AFTER he sees that they cant be killed by nuclear fucking weapons.. oh and he IS able to kill them with kitchen gas where the nuke failed

but the CGI looked good..

Despite the reviews, I reccomend this movie. It is awesome and has quickly became one of my favorite films.

I like the fact that the story doesn't follow traditional hollywood bullshit where heroism prevails and aliens are driven out. I mean come the fuck on, if anything is capable of space travel then i am pretty sure they have thought of a way to deal with a species that hasn't touched the tip of the iceberg in that section.

Great movie, realistic approaches to events and leaves you wondering what the fuck will happen next.

interesting.

i honestly thought the content of this thread would be "sucked."

because the movie did.

what if they where so advance they grew custom bodies to house the brains but did not have the tek to make a brain work right so they where advanced enough to harvest, transplant and reprogram brains to use in the empty shell bodies grown in the ships on the way to the invasion. I don't know but its at least different then the movies where the invasion happens then it is all happy at the end.

I think the aliens where biological growers of tek maybe so they would be able to use other life forms and adapt parts. Who knows what happened but for the movie being made almost as a joke and the crap ton they spent on effects I liked it. Better then lots of crap in the same category of b movie scifi. I by no means think of it as a great movie like the matrix or a clockwork orange but compared to cloverfield I liked it better. Cloverfield had me just go back and forth in the video looking to see the monster and that was it.

A story surfaced yesterday that the actor gave a talk at the London International School of Performing Arts revealing that Matrix 4 and 5 were in the works.

But now the university's Senior Administrator told Screen Rant that Reeves never appeared at the school.

The Matrix 4 and 5 rumor: Debunked
By Specter January 24th, 2011, in New Matrix Sequels?, The Matrix 4, The Matrix 5

Well, put me on the list under those that are very disappointed that it didn’t turn out to be true: Keanu Reeves has been in London, but did not give a speech there.

Reeve’s rep told The Playlist that “none of it is true…he did not speak nor get an award from the London International School of Performing Arts.”

Keanu Reeve’s currently gearing up for the 3D samurai tale 47 Ronin, which will be going in front of cameras this year and is slated for a November 21, 2012 release.

Personally, I wanted it to be true.  I want more adventures in The Matrix and want to see the series brought back in a big way.

I figured that trailer was too good to be true, its really well done tho. Wouldve made a great trailer hahahaha.

I really don't know what else they couldve done to the Matrix, maybe a prequel like the Animatrix.

I seriously just cant wait for 50yrs or so, so someone can remake it, and not fuck up the 2nd/3rd ones. :frown:
