Compromise is the key. Rabin could have brought peace to that region if he had lived long enough. He was the first guy to actually have the guts to negotiate with Arafat. He was going to give back land that rightfully belonged to the Palestinians. This would have given Palestinians less reason to be angry, so the violence would have been reduced. Of course it wouldn't stop--it never stops--but it would make life easier to live in that region.

both sides want the same thing, though. how can you compromise when two groups of people feel that the same land is theirs by right of GOD?

Good point. The religious issue is tough to work around on both sides.
For Palestinians, tho, it's not really so much that they think the land was given to them by God as much as the fact that it was TAKEN from them by Israel. People forget that Israel was formed after WW2 on land that had once belonged to Palestine. Many Zionists used terrorist tactics(I bet you guys thought only Muslims did that) to force the Palestinians off their land. Many moved to Jordan, but some had no choice but to stay behind. The taking of that country by force is the main reason why certain Muslim groups want Israel destroyed. And one reason for a lot of Anti-American sentiment in the world is the fact that we fund and arm Israel, to the extent that it probably wouldn't exist without our protection.

yeah. thats why its so fucked up.
i think it was.. jon stewart from the daily show, of all people.. that made a really good point about that... he said places like that should be controlled by the UN, or some neutral party, and each religion could have equal access to it.
good idea in theory, but the jews and muslims both would die before they let it happen.

Ya. I'm not trying to say there's an easy solution, cuz there isn't one. But I definitely know that slaughtering Palestians is just gonna piss them off even more.

there is no solution other than one of them being non esistent, all the jews will die or all the palistenians. that is the only way violence will stop
