Grifola fondosa in Northern Wisconsin?
    #14435047 - 05/11/11 01:54 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I am planning a trip to my brother's place in Polk county Wisconsin to pick morels.  Does anyone know if Hen of the Woods (Grifola Fondosa) grow in that area?

itll fruit mid summer, under real old trees I find mine mostly in parks and old forests. they take a bit of practice to hunt tho, cause the tops of them remind me of above ground tree roots. They are delicious mind you, and they make your throat numb when you eat them raw!!!good luck!
