I don't know. I want my kids to have a good life though. If I can't provide that, the stress would make me choose to not have kids if I think about it at this moment.

I'm 27 and I never felt I wanted to have children and still don't, I don't know if it's something that might change eventually.
I've already told you on another thread that I am very supportive of adoption and think it is a wonderful thing to do. I've always thought that there are so many children in need of house why go having more?
I've always thought that for me choosing natural conception over adoption would be a bit selfish, just to see someone looking like me, bearing my genes or "my blood", I think that the wish of having a child should be universal, and if I were to have it I would definitely want to adopt, I would prefer to adopt an orphan though. I myself am an orphan and adopted, by other family members I will never in my life be able to thank them enough for everything they ever did for me. I think international adoption processes can sometimes be easier than national depending on the country you live in, in my country it would be easier an international adoption.
And if you ever receive any negative criticism from anyone it's last thing you should care about, it is a beautiful thing that you're doing and I just hoped more would have the courage to do so. I'm wishing you all the luck you need in this process and am with you 100%. Boy or girl, doesn't matter.

Yeah not a bad idea. But there are those bad apples that kid adopted that ruin the idea. I would kick them out when they were three.

I agree 100%.
If I felt the need to have children, I'd adopt older kids.
To above poster, theres plenty of kids that are pieces of shit that come out of their biological parents and are raised with them. Don't be a cock. Bad people are bad people. They dress in all kinds of clothes, do all the same tricks, and have the same capacity for change as everyone else.

I have 2 boys. I have always wanted kids and had them right out of high school. I want to be around when my grandkids have kids.

This. I never ever intend to have children of my own. I think there are enough in the world that have no one. I would rather adopt an older kid, who has no one, and is on the streets, and give them a real chance in life.
It means jack shit to me if someone looks like me, has the same genes, etc. That's all just bullshit anyways. None of that really matters deep down.
@Ellen, your a good person and its a really really awesome thing you are your BF are considering. I hope you guys the best of luck!!

older kids can be an entirely different nightmare, my step father's nephew adopted a couple of kids, a boy that was 11 stole and totaled his car when he was 14 and a girl, 8, that had apparently been sexually abused and ended up bringing a whole bunch of trouble down on him

Yeah my uncle adopted an 8-9 year old kid who had (unknowingly) had a long history of sexual abuse. The kid started sexually abusing my cousin who was 5-6 at the time. It brought about a whole world of shit in the family for a while.
I have no desire for kids at the moment, but if things change I would want my own blood child. I don't want to sound like a pompus ass but I consider myself intelligent and I have good genes. I feel that most of the people overbreeding on earth today are dumbasses with poor genes. At least some of us folks with good genes need to pass down our traits or the future of this world is fucked.
