Let me use another example to illustrate what I mean:
Imagine you are a foreigner to Western culture who is familiar with psychedelics, and you observe that this song is actually *mainstream* and hugely popular in the West:
The Beatles -- Hello Goodbye
As a foreigner, I'd conclude that there are aspects here that would share some resemblance with what a widespread, mature psychedelic culture would look like.
I wouldn't be necessarily implying that Westerners all go around dressed in technicolor military outfits! I wouldn't be implying that this is a realistic portrayal of Western culture!
But clearly, since this song is hugely popular and mainstream, it says something about the culture that likes it. It says that that culture has edged a little bit more towards becoming a widespread and mature psychedelic culture.
And if you want goof, then the Beatles have plenty of it:
(But you probably don't like the Beatles either....)

so i point out the psytrance scene as an ever growing community of psychedelic users who dance around in fairy costumes on the week end ad you say that it isnt culter\
then you say that a beatles song is some how the forming of a "mature psychedlic culter"
your arguement is that the doofers go back to their westerrrn lives after the partys over....but that doesnt apply to a beatles music video or the bollywood movie; you said yourself that not all of india dressess up like that, its the exact fucking same thing for doofs, the d it for occasion!
the psytrance scene is as psychdelic as it can operate in the west
just because culter is new doesnt make it less valid, culter is always changing
and if you felt alienated at a doof then it wasnt a very good one, i have randoms walk in my tent sit down and we just start talking, every body is always spreading the love!

India has a wealth of psychedelic plants. Ram Dass talks about an Indian Yogi he met, he gave him high doses of LSD and it seemed that nothing happened. I think he mentions how his ancestors explored these plants to the extent where the psychedelic experience was ordinary experience (or maybe I made that up while watching it). It's hard to get what he is saying but it's an interesting video -
I think Ayurvedic medicine in India was very psychedelic back in it's prime. Some people think India is where the "world tree" is and where we were cast out of the garden of eden (or where humanity experienced it's 'fall'). Perhaps with psychedelic culture coming back.. we've been let back in

i think psychedelic culture is trying to emerge in all culture, especially today when more and more people are connected and able to observe how everyone else lives. the knowledge of such possible diversity could be somewhat psychedelic in itself. my parents and i have had discussions about , they are much more experienced than i ever gave them credit for... it's a "straight laced" society that keeps them from talking about or celebrating their experiences. it makes me wonder how many other people have a nugget of psychedelia, waiting to bloom.
