Help me confirm my paspali plates
    #14436481 - 05/11/11 07:17 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I've got some plates of c. Paspali growing out. I'm about 75% sure they're clean but being unfamiliar with this mycelium, I'm a little uneasy. I just took a few good pics of the plate I transferred from plus the one that I transferred to. I'm unable to post them from my phone but a buddies about to post them below. if I do have a contam growing, it appears to be mycogony. Anybody able to confirm whether it's clean or not?

""Hi stranger. I need a simple favor. I'm on my phone and can't upload pics but I can send them via email. I've got a few pics of some mycelium I need help on. I'm not sure if it's contamed or not but I need to ask. If I could send em to u and u post em in a thread in advanced mycology I could take it from there.""

Thanks bud!

So the 1st pic is a plate I transferred from. The last 4 is my new questionable plate after 6-7 days of growth.

looks fine to me
paspali isn't quite like cubensis, don't expect stringy rhizo growth
it's more...velvety

The conditions must be regulated more strictly with purpurea. It grows out on agar easily but assuming you find a producer strain, its just a little more of a hassle than paspali is when it comes to producing alkaloids under submerged culture.

There's a jillion articles/books on the topic.

What part of the globe do you go collecting in?
