Went back out for a quick trip before the sunset on some new trails.
First trail runs next to s stream/creek
Bout 5-10 feet off side of the creek i spot some. Never seen these growing in Pennsylvania before
Habitat: Sandy dirt / small twigs plenty of leaves /creek side
Stem: White / well rounded base / small hole - semi-hollow / Smaller specimens have a skirt or ring
cap: yellow-tan / little sticky / Younger - ovate / Mature - Convex to flat / white flake
gills: white -manilla shade / attached to stem

All help is highly appreciated.

Any uses of this species?
Thank you for the id, it seems to match up very well with other pictures and info around the web.
I however, am not able to find info pertaining to edibility.

I must ask for you opinions on why this would be praecox and not gemmata.
I can barely find info on the praecox anywhere!

A. gemmata probably isn't present in Northeastern North America. A. preacox is the gemmata-like mushroom that fruits in May in the Northreast.

I don't think you will find any.
It would be interesting to sequence the DNA and see how close it is to other species with known edibility.
Still, Amanitas have strange chemicals in them so I wouldn't experiment.
A. praecox is in section Amanita. Many members of that section contain muscamol, so it might be one of those. It looks like it might be close to A. crenulata, a muscamol containing species.
There are no sequences for Amanita praecox in genbank so if you could get it sequenced and add it to genbank that would be really cool.
