Hey guys I know a lot of you have some pretty fancy microscopes and I want in! My brother recently got a little handheld one for cheap and I'm looking to get one that's a little more serious but I don't have $200+ to spend. Anyone have a good that they'd like to share.
It'd be worth...some

you didn't find what you were looking for using the search function?

The real myth is the myth of sanity, of rationality: it's a disease that is eating away at the earth. All the poisons flow from our denial. We deny madness, we forget our crimes, we dismember the corpse, we imprison our children. We need poison to poison the poison, to remember the sacred nature of intoxication, the green body of the young god." ~ Dale Pendell

You should ask Mellowparty for help! He had a thread a week or two ago where he was pointing out some awesome microscope deals on ebay.
I tried to bid on one, but lost in the last seconds of the auction.

Keep an eye on the marketplace. I've seen a few scopes get traded there with prices ranging from acceptable to an absolute steal (in the favor of the purchaser).
I'll need one sometime in the next year myself so I'm keeping my eye open.

Yeah Mellowparty did send me some useful info which I'll look into. I have a bunch of money in my Amazon account so thats what I was looking to use. I would have used the search function but to be honest I end up spending much more time doing that then it takes someone to give a quick answer.
Digging through old posts can be rewarding though but a lot of them are links to ebay and such which doesn't help me at the moment. Thank you though friends I will now do my research now that I have some clues!

I bought my microscope from http://www.microscopenet.com/, but via their ebay store because you can get things cheaper. They're pretty decent quality microscopes. My only gripe is that they could use slightly better optics, but you get what you pay for. Take a look at my gallery to see some pics I took through the eyepiece on my microscope.
Here's the model I have: http://www.microscopenet.com/binocular-compound-microscope-40x1600x-p-125.html
