Grains in SGFC?

Was planning on doing the PF tek with 24 cakes in 2 SGFC chambers, but I have a PC and I've been reading that grains colonize faster. Can I fruit them in my SGFCs?

yes, but you'll need to case them, which doesn't work as well for grains.
I'd keep the SGFC for BRF cakes & make up a couple of mono tubs for grains for spawning to bulk.
Check the AMU Q&A link in my signature. All of our teks are up on the first page. That'll give you a great idea on how to do bulk.
Also, you can use your PC for the PF tek instead of the boiling method.

Grain=>bulk sub BRF/verm=>PF cake
Sure you can fruit in SGFC, but you will have to prep a sub.
As far as colonization time: I think that will depend largely on the method of inoculation/transfer, and genetics.

Sorry OP, forgot to address the colonization times.
MS inoculation of grains is 3-5 weeks + 2 weeks for bulk colonization & consolidation....That's around 6 weeks till introduced into fruitnig.
MS inoculation of BRF is 3-5 weeks...
If you want speed of colonization, you need to start doing isolations for that. You can clone a pin by taking your quickest/largest growing pin & picking it while it's still a pin & toss it on agar. Then iso from that.

Word, I guess I'll grow out the cakes and move on to bulk from there. Thanks for the great advice.

I find it's easier to stretch a syringe w/ grains rather than w/ BRF. W/ Grains you can do G2G or GLCs both will extend the life of your syringe significantly, especially figuring you use 1 cc per quart jar & G2G that to 10...or 1 cc for a GLC & shoot that into a quart jar for 600mL of clean myc water solution.

I was going to try and make each syringe stretch and do 12 .5 pint jars, is that pushing it?

I feel as though grains are a bit easier to get the moisture content right. Just follow RRs vid for grain prep for WBS or Rye, if using WBS, dump as soon as the water comes to a boil & continuously stir once the water is around 180.
However, per weight, BRF jars produce more mushrooms than bulk substrate. BRF is the more nutritious.

you could do half pint cakes and break those up if you want to attempt spawning to a bulk sub...check out damions 5050 coir tek for instructions on how to prepare a bulk sub except instead of spawning to a monotub use little ziploc tubs.

when i do cakes i always make a few extra to play around with.
