PF Tek with Quart-Sized, Wide-Mouthed Mason Jars Update: PFT with rounded, pint-sized jars

Hi All-
I am gearing up to grow my first batch of psilocybe cubensis. I've been reading the Psilocybin Mushroom Handbook by LG Nicholas and Kerry Ogame to prepare. In that book, it states that one should use flat-sided 1/2 pint mason jars for the "improved" PK Tek method of growing. However, I already have in my possession 20 Quart Sized Wide Mouthed Cylindrical (rounded sides) Mason Jars. Are these suitable for the PK Tek Method? If so, how many of these jars should two 10 cc syringes cover?
UPDATE: I just read that using these quart-sized jars won't really work. I'll pick up half-pints later. However, I think I can only get rounded ones, not flat-sided. Is this ok?
Thanks so much, all!
Best, Matt

Save the quart jars for grains, pf tek works best with 1/2 pint jars. Larger jars will often stall before colonizing completely. I'm not sure what you mean by flat sided or rounded jars but you do want wide mouth jars so that the cakes can slide out once they are colonized.
do a search on pf tek and read some of the more up to date material as the methods have been progressing rapidly. I think shea25 does a very good job of instructing us newbies: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/11585613#11585613
also you only need to add .5 - 1cc of spore solution per jar.

You can use Wide Mouth Pint jars & fill them as if though they were 1/2 pint jars. The Wide Mouth Pint jars don't have shoulders like the Wide Mouth Quart jars.

Check the PF tek section of that. It has all 4 parts in total, which will help ya get started.
