Is this a pro medical marijuana commercial?
    #1443345 - 04/09/03 02:01 PM (20 years, 11 months ago)

I'm watching CNN and a commercial came on and it had an old couple bowling, who had cancer. It very much had a resemblance to those "this is Dan that bought the weed from the dealer who killed the family" commercials. Like a lot of prescribed drugs commercials they cannot mention the actual medcine, like Acutane the acne medice is advertised by showing people with acne and then giving a number you can call to see if you qualify for help(sly way of getting around actually saying to purchase acutane).
So at the end of this one it said to just call the American Cancer society, do ya think it's for medical marijuana? If so it's DAMN clever.

And that's a shame. The government just wants terminally ill people to suffer as much as possible before they die.

It is under federal law. Like it or not.

I know. Of course, if the federal government paid any attention to the 10th Ammendment, that would still make it technically legal here.

Edit: I've heard medical marijuana ads on the radio before.

Unfortunately they like to ignore that pesky little amendment.

Am I wrong or do you favor the 10th when it suits you, as in medical MJ, and not when it comes to social programs?

I was thinking the same thing, but I didn't want to go off-topic.

No. I believe state governments should manage welfare programs.

Glad to hear you say that. I agree with you as long as it is just an option given to the states and not something they have to do.

How about medicare, social security, school funding?
Telephones? Air and train travel? Pollution laws?
Medical research?

Well, in order to be perfectly fair, I'd have to say that those should also be run by state governments, tho I'm not sure I trust certain states to handle those properly.

The exception here would be air and train travel, since that falls under the category of interstate commerce.
