Geocaching
    #14432873 - 05/11/11 12:28 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

My friend told me about it a while ago but I never looked into it and a few days ago another friend brought it up so I went with her and it's actually kind of fun.

What you do is go on this site http://www.geocaching.com/ and type in your area and it will show all the boxes that people have hidden around you and gives you a clue to help you find each one. Once you get to the location of a box you have to use the clue to try and find it and once you do you leave your name and the date and can leave something small in it if you want and put it back. So it's kind of like a mini treasure hunt and these boxes are seriously everywhere. Some can be extremely difficult to find though. There's also an app you can get for the iphone although you have to buy it.

Anyone else do this?:heavymetal:

I've always though that this was pretty dumb.

Maybe if you're lazy and unmotivated.

I thought it looked pretty fun when I read about it a while ago, but never actually done it - might one day
Could leave a tab of acid or some weed for the next lucky hunter hehe

i accidentally found one before, out hiking in the hills behind my school, inside this big tree. so i wrote my name and a lyric of the song i was listening to. there was one in there that said "found by four guys on acid"  :awesome:

I don't think participating in any certain hobby or not is an indication of laziness or motivational status. Especially one that has no benefit of any kind.

asshat.

I looked up the closest one to me.

Checked the comments on it and it said
Quote:

Nice hike. Easy find. Removed several items not family friendly from the cache? Left a First Aid Kit.

What a fuckin douche...

It gives you the opportunity to go out and possibly explore new places. That's like saying hiking has no benefits but I'm guessing you don't do that either. But hey, if sitting at home slitting your wrists is beneficial to you in some way then more power to you. :highdog:

It's not really because he has me nigged.

On topic though, geocaching is a pretty fantastic idea imo. Who hasn't ever wanted to go searching for treasure?

X marks the spot and shit
