Man some of you guys are having crazy finds - nicely done!

I'm still finding a lot of my spots are a bit on the dry side, though I've had a bit of luck in a couple of somewhat more sheltered/dank areas.

Today I picked my first subs for the season 1/2 a dozen - I was pretty fuckin' stoked. A couple of pics from 2 different patches:

Second photo is of a couple of subs I posted from last weekend - today they were ripe for the picking .

I also thought these photos from today were pretty cool:

That beetle is growing fungus of some sort - probably the reason it didn't even acknowledge me when I politely offered to shake it's antenna and introduce myself. At first I thought it was just being rude, but eventually I came to the conclusion that it is in-fact no longer living the beetle lifestyle.

Awesome find! :awesome:
The fungus is Beauveria bassiana (an anamorph of a Cordyceps sp.). They are a really fascinating group of fungi.

from down south...

found about 30 fully matured pretty much all the same as this, and a few pins popping up. Not alot of sub growth by any means
But they went super blue almost instantly after being picked.

I've noticed almost all of the actives I've been picking have been immensely blue before even being touched, is this because they are simply older and it has leeched out over time, or is it an indication of a stronger patch?

The more mature subs will stain more blue IMO, sometimes it doesn't make a difference though.
I've seen pins that where completely blue as well.

It's not an indicator of potency as far as I know, it's the psilocybin oxidizing.

yea thats it same as rust on metal its the oxidization of 4 hydroxy dimethyltryptamine causing the fungal mattes blue, cool hey haha

Went out for a hunt after work, in the rain, and by torchlight i managed to find a patch of 15 subs. Very happy that my spots have started fruiting. Think i need to wear a better jacket next time, its damn wet out there, but the wetter the better.

So I found my first ones of the year. About 10, also found about 20 pins. Photos to come... What do you think about this rain? The first big fruit.  I am looking this weekend?

Personally I think the rain over the next couple of days will do wonders for my patches.. but there is a lot more rain coming so keen up.

went out yesterday up north.
got about 10 mature subs and left more pins there. Looked fairly dry out, but todays rains will have changed that.

Just got back from a small hunt at a spot where i found many last year, seemed wet enough but didn't get any gold, might try again in a few weeks. Thinking its possibly too early for any major finds?

Went out on my first actual hunt yesterday with two friends, they hadn't found anything at all and i felt bad so i took them out to a random spot.

Just my luck though they didn't find squat and i found the first subs, found a few nice patches of pins that i left.

Halfway through the walk i stopped for a bit of a rest and i layed on this log and found this amazing little forest of tiny white fungi running all through the ground, anyone got an ID?

Thought i found some gold on a log, i was deceived haha

Few photos of the spot, it was beautiful up there and i'm looking forward to goimng on some more serious hunts with you guys. Weather is almost too good at the moment to sit at home so get out there and good luck

Peace and good luck! :cookiemonster:

Must of been gratifying. I remember when I found my first sub on top of a mountain after a full day's hike - only found two that day.

Hemimycena sp. Well spotted as they can easily be overlooked at standing height.
