Was waiting for a mate today in a park and had a look around for mushrooms after such perfect conditions, i found many other species and took photos but these i wasn't too sure about so i thought i might put it to all you experts.
I know alot of these are not hallucinogenic but i was a tad exited on glimpsing some then wasn't too sure. The spore prints are in progress for those which are too hard from a pic

Number 1

these were found growing straight off a dead tree log, the gills connect to the stem

Number 2

these were found growing out of soil not on any wood (that i found), maybe russela? gills are connected to stem

Number 3

Found on a log and are quite the cute little things, stem is connected to gills. also maybe russela?

Number 4

found on a log and has gills connected to stem... suprise

number 5

these are the ones i got exited about but not so sure on closer inspection... gills not connected to stem and spores appear to be purple/red/orange, too soon to tell fully yet

number6

pleurotus?

and finally number 7

grew on a lawn

thanks for any help on these, will update with spore colour, any photos needed in different way just say and ill take one. if it is really hard then i will check the spores under a microscope

1, 3 & 4 are maybe Gymnopilus species. Possibly active. I'm not expert on them, wait for confirmation.
5 - Leratiomyces ceres
6 - probably Clitocybe sp.
7 - Panaeolus or Psathyrella

You really need to find some stink horns, so we can post the genus for those. You'll like it.

Mycologists are just sneaky pervs, apparently

I might as well, but I wouldn't be able to put a definite tag on any of those.
#1 agree with Tangich on the gymnopilus guess.
#2 dunno; I don't think they are a russula species, although they look pretty close. Maybe you're right after all, but something doesn't seem right to me for russula. Especially the somewhat pointed cap is odd. General shape would point more towards cortinarius, but the gills seem much too light for that genus.
#3 I have a suspicion that these are the same species as #2, but a collection of slightly older specimens. Could that be the case?
#4 Maybe I should follow Tangich here as well; gymnopilus sounds about right.
#5 I can see where your excitement came from. Leratiomyces ceres as suggested by Tangich sounds right.
#6 Clitocybe or something close; agree with T. once again.
#7 panaeolus species.

Afraid not, the pictures dont show it as obviously i can observe but they are quite different, 2 is brown and had a completely different environment to the purple 3 which has an off centre stipe and different coloured gills and staining. good predictions on the others tho :tongue2:

I think number 3 looks very much like Gymnopileus purpurtus which is magic. Don't eat them based on my estimates, but Alan, Inski or Tripsis might be the ones who could tell you. Similar to the pic below. These can have very different appearances and probably need to be sorted into different species.

From the name on the pics it appears Lord Mayonnaise took the photo!

I was going to say that #3 looks a lot like Gymnopilus luteofolius, but Gymnopileus purpurtus seems like an OK match too.  I'm not familiar enough with AU mushrooms to be in the least bit confident, but they're at least in that clade I'm sure.

Could you post a picture?  Paneolina foenisecii has brown to blackish prints, Panaeolus species have jet black (Absent of any brown/lighter tones).

Awesome stuff! :cool::thumbup:

I don't have my head around Australian Gymnopili yet. We have about 40 species and I haven't even seen descriptions for most of them.
