and before i die i will eat at every one of them! favs thus far are pokpok, e-san, thai peacock, red onion thai, and my thai bistro.... nomnomnom.... urbanspoon actually lists over 200 thai restaurants in portland

same here, but that's one of the big things i appreciate about thai food... just about everything on the menu has a vegetarian option.. haven't been to vege thai yet, just looked up their menu... i like that they have tempeh! will def go, maybe tomorrow

they are cool because it does not taste like every other thai restaurant.
I would recommend the soy "pepper steak" just ate some minutes ago actually.
My girl says it is the best tempeh she has ever had.

My understanding is that tempeh is better for you.. less processed yadda.. but who knows.. have never been much of a fan for soy meat emulations.. usually just go for tofu, but may give it a try. Peppersteak is not something I associate with Thai though

i've heard tempeh is less processed and generally healthier, but i honestly haven't done any research on the matter so i wouldn't quote me on it.
anyways, i tried Vege Thai the other day, and i hate to say it, but it was by far the worst Thai I've had in Portland lol. it was very, very bland... i asked for extra hot and spicy and i'd give it a -3 on a 1-10 scale. a friend liked it though

Yeah, I don't listen to that type of music either. I guess it's hardcore/heavy metal fast playing and screaming vocals. Next time I go there I'll hit you up. That will be at least a year from now though.

I've been to e-san a couple times for dinner actually. A lot of people I know all vouch that it is the best around also. Good beer, didn't like the food I got. Not my taste preference.

heheh, yah, the guy that runs it was pretty jubilant come to think of it... honestly, by and large, i haven't particularly cared for most of the restaurants on hawthorne... division and belmont generally seem to have better food and atmosphere.

Thai food is so good. I always get the "Thai Spicy" at this place near me, and it isn't really that hot.
It always makes me start sweating and clears out my sinuses pretty well if I have a cold though.
Thai food spiciness is different from like Mexican food spicy in some weird way I can't explain.
