I've been drying my fruits w a dehydrator and it works great but it seems after i take them out and put them in a gallon zip lock bag with a closet dehumidifier box from walmart they seem to get soft again...? The stems stay dry but the parts between the cap and stem are not cracker dry anymore can anyone help me out here? The dehumidifier box is brand new.,.

maybe the dehumidifier has water in it from use? Just put them in a bag after they are dry and see if that works. Do you split big stems open and check to make sure they are dry in the middle?

i had some small mushrooms do that to me. they appeared dry, so they went in a bag, then i checked the bag later to weigh it and they were wet and starting to mold so i had to toss them out. :frown:

im guessing if theres any moisture in the mushrooms, them being in an air tight bag will bring it out of them.

you wont ruin potency. set the dehydrator to a lower temp and let em go.

It won't ruin the potency put them back in to dry and make sure there dry this time

Mushroom fruit bodys are basically sponges they take in water from the air,if theres enough moisture in the air they will try to rehydrate themselves

dry them in the dehydrater then put them in a zip lock bag and make sure you get as much air out as possible then into the fridge in a tupperware

You could get some damprid and put it in an airtight bag of that after the dehydrator, that will be sure to suck out the last remaining moisture.

What kind of dehydrator is it?
