Everything comes back to bacon when you really think about it. People try to say sex runs the world, but I'm not so sure.

Give me info as to why I shouldn't pre-salt. Not "just cause" :

People keep saying this, but does anyone know why this is supposed to be? I.e., what sort of damage, and through what mechanism?
Cooking red meat at high temperatures leads to the generation of at least 16 different heterocyclic amines (HCAs) which have been shown to cause colon and breast cancer in rodents. They're generated from precursors such as creatine and amino acids. The most common one in human diet is PhIP that gets hydroxylated to N-OH-PhIP by the liver cytochrome P-450 CYP1A2. N-OH-PhIP is very reactive and attacks guanine bases in DNA thus forming a mutagenic adduct. Salt catalyses the generation of carcinogens in the diet.

if I were a rat I'd be very alarmed
did they mention that they fed nothing but burnt meat to these mice, did they mention that genetics also played an important role, some people arent predisposed to cancer and even if they mimicked the diet they still wouldnt get cancer

No, they show that HCAs have mutagenic and thus carcinogenic activity. Essentially the same type of products are generated in the liver of both rats and humans and these things literally stick to DNA regardless of whether its bacterial, rat or human DNA. They didn't fed the rats burnt mean, they tested the compounds that are generated by the cooking process. The damage is cumulative, the more you eat it the higher the chance of you getting cancer.
As for genetics, yeah some people are predisposed, other are not. I guess it has something to do with the activity of DNA repair enzymes and cell cycle checkpoints which are faulty in one part of the population but not in the other.
Just because your friend's enzymes protect his DNA better than yours doesnt mean its safe to eat that shit. Remember the damage is cumulative and the effects usually culminate later in life. Thats one reason why cancer is more prevalent nowadays than it was in the past. The living standard has increased so that it allows to reach the age where all the accumulated mutations can manifest themselves in a malignancy.

Pris, epidemiological evidence offers credible evidence that HCAs are also carcinogenic in humans...in particular, I stumbled across a Swedish study from the mid-1990s that supported this.
However, what I haven't been able to find, is if and how sodium salt would catalyze the formation of HCAs. How does that work exactly?

I dont have a credible source for that so it might as well be a bunch of bs I heard some doctor guy saying it but I haven't been able to find papers on that matter. Now I start to question the validity of this statement.
Any chemists in the pub?

so it's all hypothetical since there were no lab trials... nice

mice love meat by the way, it's one of their favorites
