Got some old spores in syringes... are they still good?
    #14426898 - 05/09/11 09:04 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Hey,

I did my first grow a little over a year ago, and it went pretty well.  I'm thinking about doing another one this year, and I still have 2 syringes left over that I bought last year.  One is Golden Teacher and the other is Creeper.

When I look at the water in the syringe, the small pieces of spore mostly seem to be stuck to the side, and not floating around the water.  is this a bad sign?  Should these syringes be okay?

Thanks.

I recently attempted to use two old syringes, both were dated July 2010. I stored them in the fridge and inoculated new jars with them in April 2011. One set of jars I called a loss after three weeks and one set I let sit for kicks and remains uncolonized about a month later. So over a period of 10 months, two well-stored syringes from one of this site's top sponsors were bunk.

But really, the only way to know for sure is to just try them out and see if they work!

Pluck the needle to get the spores off the side and shake well.

I just used some two year old syringes.

They colonized a little slow in the BRF cakes I inoculated but no contaminates and everything seems to be coming along.
