Suppose one wanted to PC a maximum amount of grain and then transfer it to jars that don't fit in the PC. The jars would be presterilized in the oven at 300 F for 1 hour. Has anyone had to do this? Did your jars contam?

I don't see why it wouldn't work as long as you made the transfer in a glovebox, or better yet a HEPA filtered positive pressure box, or ideally in front of a flow hood. Personally I'd just buy a bigger PC to avoid the hassle.

I would just fill the PC as full and cook, then fill it up and cook again, and keep on cooking till all the jars are done. Patience is the key

What is the smallest sized PC for doing quart jars? Three jars at a time would be a minimum.
Thanks for the help.

Is a lot riskier , than just putting grain into jars PC or AC as normal , let cooling , then inocing . The more you handle and transfer the things the more likly you are to get contams in the mix . Try using Autoclavable bags , they hold a lot more than jars , and will fit in most PC;s well , then you just inoc the bag . Just make sure bag does not touch walls of pressure cooker . Good Luck PS sounds like you do not have a PC ? Is this so ? If so , do self favor , save up and get one !

I don't have a PC, but my friend does and uses white millet. His shrooms are BOMB, and his turn-around is so much faster than with BRF.
The oven bag idea is a good one. Why didn't I think of that? So, if I put the bags in a pillow case before PCing, would that be enough protection from the sides of the PC?

Have never done it myself , but yes the pillow case around the bag should protect it from touching the walls of PC . Is nice having an AC at my disposal ! Never considering making cakes myself , I am not a baker , I am a mushroom maker ! It is rumored that grain is superior ! Good Luck
