What kind of "chamber" are we talking about here? And never use warm, always use cool.

I would suspect a warm mist to harbor contams easier than cold mist. Fungi may like the heat, but too much is almost bound to breed contamination.

Ultrasonic.
Good guess about the warm mist but wrong, they are less contam prone than a cool mist if anything. Not that contams would be my first concern with a humidifier.

Not all coolmists are created equal. There is the filter type and the impeller type. Two very different beasts.

That's true, you need to go for the kind with the motor/impeller. The wick type cannot raise humidity very high. People also have success using ultrasonic humidifiers but I don't know anything about that stuffs.

I have a "wick type" cool mist, would taking the filter out of the humidifier do me justice or should I just go get another humidifier?

No, without the wick it does not function at all.
They aren't trash. I use a wick type as a room humidifier to keep rh up to 40-50. They can also be used in short intervals to provide fresh air exchange.
But you can't use them to maintain high humidity.

Ultrasonic for the win. Tried impeller-type coolmist and two ultrasonics. The ultras work far better for mycology.
Coolmists seem to just throw water droplets into the air. Ultrasonics actually create a mist so fine that it's quite literally a fog - the water droplets are about a micron in diameter. They will both work, but I know that my cubes love the ultrasonic fog in comparison with the coolmist "rain."
A caveat to both coolmists and ultrasonics is that they both will throw any bacteria/fungi/protists/etc and minerals that are in the water reservoir into the air with the water, so regular cleaning is a good idea. On an ultrasonic, never let the water level sensor get dirty. If the humidifier runs out of water and cannot sense that it has, the ultrasonic disc will quickly burn out.

a warm mist could cause condensation problems.
if your looking for a humidifier, as others have stated an impeller type cool mist, or an ultrasonic. Remember you will need a timer otherwise you will just flood everything.
If your humidifying a fruiting chamber, then leave the humidifiers alone. the effort needed to get the settings dialed in seems too much for what can be achieved just as well with perlite.
I see some people still say they are good for fresh air, and while if they are run on the outside of a greenhouse yes they are bringing in fresh air into your grow area, however FAE is not just about replacing stale air. FAE is also used to cause evaporation of moisture from the substrate (an important pinning trigger) air thats moist want really help evaporate moisture.
