Got a photo ticket
    #14425558 - 05/09/11 04:50 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Got a photo ticket today, wasn't paying enough attention.
I'm mad about the ticket but impressed with the technology.
It's efficient, for one thing. Cops aren't writing tickets by hand one at a time.

But also it's fair.
No chance that I was pulled over based on skin color or let go based on skirt length.
Impossible to be profiled for hair length or bumpersticker and searched by canine.

Not a bad invention, IMO.

Photo tickets are really easy to get out of...

One option is to claim that you were not driving the car.
And you are not forced to implicate the person who was.

There are many other options on that fat ole Internet though.

When I drove through one and it snapped a pic of my time literally froze when that flash went off, I swear time froze that one flash felt like it was on forever.

That gets beyond lying and into perjury.

Well, do they have a clear shot of your face?

There are many other options.

Those photo tickets are scams for the most part.

Doesn't matter, it's perjury. I choose my felonies carefully, that one isn't worth it.

Those things are annoying as fuck, there's one down the street from my old house and if you go over the crosswalk line by even an inch it blinds you with the flash. You don't get the ticket if you don't run the red but you can see the flash from like a mile away.

assuming that the face of the driver isnt shown, one of the requirements in
our judicial system is the ability to cross examine our accusers, a cop had
it been issued by a cop, we cant very well cross examine a camera

I got a ticket once, in the mail, a supposed 'photo-ticket' that you couldn't read the plate on....  it was for not paying toll on the Bay Bridge.

I wrote them back, told them I wasn't paying, because the car had never been out of San Diego, and they didn't even have a clear shot of the plate.  Don't know WTF it was about, but they never sent me anything after that.

it's true, locally they set the delay time too short so that if the light
turns red while you're in the intersection you get ticketed, they're taking
the ones we have down because of a lawsuit based on this. it's no more than a
revenue scheme, when they were installed it was claimed that they would
reduce the number of accidents at the intersections they were installed at,
since they were installed the numbers have increased and it allows for
citations to be issued with little regard to due process
