where are the pins?

My friend birthed 3 PF cakes on saturday night. Now, after 4 days in the fruiting chamber there are about 2 large mushrooms on two of the cakes and a few pins. The 3rd cake has no pins whatsoever. What can my friend do to get more pins???

The chamber is fanned out 3 times a day and exposed to a desk lamp and/or indirect sunlight for about 4 hours total a day. The 1.5 inch layer of perlite on the bottom is still wet.

He sprayed water on the sides of the chamber to get the humidity up, but the shrooms started to get all fluffy with mycelium so he removed some of the water. Was that a mistake? What should he do? He's new and very confused!
