Is it real? Did the things you discovered during your trip carry over into your life later on?

Last week, I tripped on shrooms for the first time with my boyfriend of 3 years. During the entire trip, I relived our past lives together, our shared karmic history and saw us as one being! I was sure that we were supposed to be together. The only thing is, I have been keeping a huge secret from him - I accidentally cheated on him a year and a half ago and have been avoiding telling him, because I regret it like crazy, and I'm a different person now and really, who wants to tell their loved one something like that? But my trip convinced me that we were meant to be together, and that in order to have this happen, I needed to tell him what I'd done. I saw our cosmic relationship as strong enough to overcome my horrible mistake.
So the next morning, I told him. And now nothing of what I experienced when I tripped is true. He wants to break up with me, he can't see us being together... And of course this is the reaction that I'd expect. Now I'm looking at a potential breakup. (And I feel like shit about what I did, so don't worry about that.)
I'm not really here to talk about my relationship. What I'm curious about is, have any of you experienced something like this, where your soul is convinced of something so strongly during the trip, and you come out of the trip and act on what you felt, only to find that it doesn't hold true at all?

I've received all kinds of messages and visions from trips. But I never follow them. I'm a skeptic and there's really no evidence that psychoactive substances can give you any knowledge about the future or the universe in general.
I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune.

Honestly, you shouldn't have tripped. You had the wrong mind set in my opinion.
You have to control yourself enough to realize that a lot of your realizations while tripping shouldn't be applied to real life until you COMPLETELY come down from the drug. You should have maybe waited 2 or 3 days to tell him.

we're often able to convince ourselves of things that we want to believe in and during a trip it can seem like this is divine information being revealed to us.
In reality all you did was realize that you love your BF very much and then your trip turned it into this cosmic romance of fate and destiny.
I think the most useful things that can be carried out of a trip aren't really the predictions or the "messages" from beyond. But rather just observations about your life and the people in it. Realizations about how and why you relate to people the way you do. And often these might come disguised as messages from the divine in some sort of bizarre and cryptic form. The trick is being able to interpret these "messages" in a way that's actually constructive so you don't end up with some bullshit like the McKenna's Time Wave theory or a bunch of predictions about the future that inevitably turn out to be false.

Unfortunately shrooms have the ability to fool you and make you think somethiing is true but in reality it's not. It's a hallucinogen. What you experience while tripping isn't real.

yes they carry over but not in a simplistic way. you are broken-up yet you are still one person: you do feel things the same way. you do live life the same way. but you are not "meant to be together" (that was a logical leap) all of the "means" or "meant" stuff is off kilter, and especially not in keeping with our day to day timeframes. stoned timeframes are tangled.
your difficult issue about a peccadillo one year ago was not magically solved by your new "power" but your guilt for it became an "instant karma" lesson - damn.

One great epiphany I had from a trip was that I did not need psychedelics. I was calling myself an idiot for desiring them when everything one could ask for is already out there awaiting my presence. That the greatest trip is experiencing and seizing life itself. Haven't followed this, but I probably should.

Hold on. You "accidentally cheated"? Bullshit. If you can't be real with yourself you have no business taking mushrooms. It is not the mushrooms fault that you conscious was not clean when you took them. Mushrooms are ruthless and WILL make you take inventory. Mushrooms or not, you needed to tell him. Don't try to blame your unfaithful deceitful ways on anything but yourself. Your post shows that you did not understand the mushroom and had NO idea of its purpose and therefor no business taking it. And some of these responses are just as misguided.

I've experienced lifelike telepathy before. You won't understand when i say i can't get confirmation but the experience was real.. When you feel not only your own feelings but also someone else's feelings you know it's not some weird illussion.
Anyway.. last night (havent done shrooms or anything in weeks) i started tripping when i follow a certain trail of thought and i experienced long enduring telepathy with multiple souls including Terrence Mckenna. Kind of hard to confirm once again.. but it's very interesting non-theless
The trail of thought i followed some might describe as enlightenment? But i'm not sure.. it's just a word

Well shit that sucks..... Give him time he should come around if he's worth it, it was one time and it was over a year and a half ago (unless op is sugar-coating the story...)
I think they carry through as it's a very intense experience and any intense experience carries through to the future
