Day 8 of fruiting, I accidentally hit the bottom of the bin when i moved it in the first place lol so theres a nice crack in the substrate but it doesn't seem to be affecting anything.

What do you guys think about how i should go about dunking after the flush given that giant crack in the substrate?

That. Or tie it up like a roast with some clean string. Gently.

maybe poke some holes in the bottom of the tray, and then soak that tray in the sink, and let the water drain from the holes.
im think that might work. id be afraid to lift that out cause it might just crumble

I agree, very carefully dunk. You don't want to get it contaminated in that spot. Looks like an earthquake in mushroom world, what happened?

Haha, you really want to know? Tripped over a 40 oz and saved the bin by letting it fall on top of me, but it bumped the bottom up and put that nice crack in it. The lid fell off in the upper right hand corner you can see a corner of a lid impression too Also that was the one thing i was worried about, it opened up the core of my beast. First flush should hopefully suck it back together when it shrinks the sub.

You can rotate your mono every 2-3 days to make sure the mushis won't grow sideways like that. They orient themselves towards light & your light source is cleary around 1-3 o'clock on that tub...
Just give it a nice gentle 180 degree spin ever couple of days or you can do 90 degrees every day, but that's too much work for me.

Thanks for the info, ill give it a 180 every couple days. Sounds more/less like a natural cycle anyways. They sure are reaching... lol.

Update - these are a lot shorter than the normal B+ i have worked with, they still got time to beef up though. Plus the beasts come in later flushes anyhow so it seems.

Just wanted to update you all. Bin 2 just started up and is looking amazing so far, i used MS for both bins. Genetics on the second bin seem to be a lot better.

The first bin i have a question about. The first flush is still going strong, already harvested half of them. But the earthquake crack in the substrate has actually gotten bigger where as i thought as the sub shrunk it would close in and repair itself. I worry about contamination. And dunking this puppy.

I wouldn't dunk it. Just take what you get from the first flush & toss.
Make sure to rotate your tubs every 24-48 hours as your mushis keep growing sideways rather than up.
I just fixed my lids, they used to be solid to this:
Which resulted in this:

RH is a bit off in my tubs cuz of the top now...gotta seal it up better along the edges, but my cubies love the light from directly above
Looks great though brotha.

I agree with you about the first bin, ill take what i can get and not risk contaminating my other bins. Also i took your advice with the rotation and have been doing that with bin two, been slacking on rotating bin 1 as you can see. Loving the lid setup, i will do some research and next go ill take up that idea as well. Thanks brother.
