Help Identify
    #14422182 - 05/08/11 10:08 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

First time poster, hoping to get some help IDing this mushrooms. They were found near woods in a large raked pile of leaves. I am using it to practice growing mycelium outdoors before I move on to other types of mushrooms. My guess is its a fairly common mushroom, yet id still like to get an idea of what it is. Get my feet wet in IDing. Thanks for any help, im very new to mycology.

Habitat:
Found in a large pile of leaves under the cover of trees.

Gills:
white one younger ones, brown on older.

Stem:
about 1cm wide. White in color, bruises brown.

Cap:
Diameter 2-3 inches, White with brown spots.

Spore print color:
Wish I knew. When i came back to check there were no spores but instead what appears to be mycelium growing from one section of the gills.

Bruising:
Brown. Found in lower Alabama.

the second picture looks a lot like chlorophyllum, although the other pics look a bit weird. if it is chlorophyllum, it'd be  brunneum or rachodes with white spores, molybdites with green.

Chlorophyllum molybdites would be my guess? Did they have rings on the stem? Is there a greenish tint to the gills?

My guess was either Chlorophyllum Molybdites(although it doesnt appear green anywhere in person.) or Macrolepiota Rachodes. There were no rings on the stems. Any idea why instead of a spore print from the oldest fruiting body it started to grow mycelium?
