Ohio Identification Request
    #14418572 - 05/08/11 08:20 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Habitat:
Found growing on decidious wood in the Ohio River Valley. Growing on downed wood that was flooded over earlier.

Gills:
Dark brown, to a blackish appearance on those that have dropped spores already.

Stem:
Semi-long stems, a white-ish color, very sturdy

Cap:
Caps are dark brownish/greenish, and slimy when wet.

Spore print color:
Took 1, dark brown/purplsish black

Bruising:
Intensely blue, turning blacker as dries.

Other information:
This is my first year hunting, and these are my first finds. Ive put alot of research into it, and Im about 100% sure these are ovoids, Id just like to have someone with more experience.
Also, beginner dose? I know theyre quite potent. I have experience eating  and growing cubes, but this will be my first ovoid experience.
Thank you in advance.....

If you've ate mushrooms before, you should do at least 2 grams Honestly, they tend to be overrated potency-wise

Im guessing, by your name, you have more experience with these...lol, Thanks, I was thinking 2.5 each for me and a buddy should be good. Just to make sure, you concur that these are indeed ovoids?

Only asking because Ive hunted these for 3 years, and Im just now hitting a hot spot.

Thanks in advance.

They are the best mushrooms I have eaten.  They don't have alot of anxiety when coming up on them.  They also seem to be more visual than cubes to me.  If you normally at 3 grams of cubes I would eat 2 grams of oviods.  That's just me though.  Have fun and go out and find some more.  I can't find them anymore since I moved so I have to live vicariously through those of you who do find them.
