Acacia berlandieri
    #14419783 - 05/08/11 02:06 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I've got a real young, seed grown Acacia berlandieri. You can still see the fatty cotyledons beneath the true leaves and leaflets.  This is by far my favorite of my new seed grown Ethnos, real adorable.
I've read a bit of  controversy on the interweb about the ethno-potential of this little plant. Any insights into what it really can do? Has anyone ever done extractions of this, or are the actives too trace to be truly useful?
FYI these pictures were taken about 4 days apart.

Cute little Acacia. I've grown different ones for a few years now and they're real cool when in the juvenile stage.

As for alkaloids it does seem that this one has some confusing information and the only way you're going to prove anything would be to perform some extractions on it when older and see what you come up with. There doesn't seem to be anyone who has done this to answer your questions so you may as well do it yourself.

Yeah, pictures of  older Acacia b. plants made me realize this is the coolest he'll ever look, but a nice plant anyway.
I guess that's the case.  I'll wait a while and maybe when the time comes I can call in a favor at my old college, get a real reading done on it.
I could figure out an extraction, but wouldn't really know what to make of it after that.
