Those are some great looking ovoids, Hygrocybe. Wonderful pics.
I've still had no luck with ovoids after checking stream after stream. Good news is I found a few pounds of morels in the woods this evening.

Post them as their own ID thread if you want an ID. Those guys are potent, 17 fresh grams should be enough for level 2.

Thanks, I did post them and got an ID. Also, Im drying them for storage, and was given an estimate of 1 gram dry weight? Sound correct? We were thinking about eating 2 g each to try and get some nice visuals and a good buzz. Like I say, first year so any info is greatly appreciated. I studied pretty hard on how to find them, now its just time to learn how to use them. I dry for storage, because I refuse to sell anything, theyre a gift from nature, I try to treat them as such. Thanks!

I don't know much about estimating their dried potency. Fresh is better IMO since nothing will be lost during the drying process.

HELLO GENTLEMEN!
I've been wondering about my ovoid luck for a long time--I've seen plenty of mushrooms but no ovoids. I was surprised when Bobzimmer found his first morel, and even more surprised when I was reading though ovoids finds and saw that some guys found their first OYSTERS after finding ovoids. Man, I see oysters everywhere I go!
Well today I went to a park near my friend's home and walked along the creek. Within a half a mile I spotted some knotweed (JAPANESE NOT WEED!). I spent ten minutes crawling around in the thick knotweed when I stumbled upon a true sight for sore eyes

I didn't really ever expect to find ovoids, I figured my luck was far too gone, so I didn't have my camera on hand to take habitat shots--but I'm sure I'll be back at the patch in a few days to pick the TONS of little ones that I left to mature.
Here's them in the dehydrator getting ready to go! Not sure if you can tell by the pics, but they're all blue as hell!

edit: heh these dehydrator pics are terrible
I just wanted to thank everyone who believed in me, especially Bobzimmer, Paduchaovoids, and Hygrocybe for their wonderful habitat pics and tips for hunting! You guys are the best.

Thanks for the props, but it was all you... I felt the same way about P. caerulipes before I finally found some, so I know what you're saying. I looked through Japanese Knot Weed today for the hell of it. Persistance pays off in this hobby. Congrats, and happy I could help inspire you.
Btw...those were my first morels this year...not first morels ever.
