I Quote:
ellenallien said: i really do feel bad for 'pets' in this city, and on my block alone. its sad. everyone has a pitbull, not for a pet, not because they love it. because they think it makes them look tough. Pets are not a Fashion Statement. our neighbors behind us leave their beautiful pitbull outside all day and night rain snow sleet hail sunshine. the people that live 2 houses down do the same thing. they never let the dogs in and the backyards in the city are lucky to be 5x5ft. its sad because you can hear the dogs howl and push their food bowls around because their never fed enough either. when i first moved in i tried to call animal cruelty and i was told flat out belligerently, "we do not come for Cats & Dogs" NO LIE! i was like, are you F_ing kidding ME!! so i called animal control, and it was the same thing! so now i dont know what to do. these poor animals are all weathered and tattered i would go beat their owners heads in if i could. but im barely 4 ft, and the people behind us are thugged out, hugely built, tatted down puerto ricans, and the other ones are overweight white trash, i wouldnt stand a chance
Different people live differently. If this bothers you you should be down at the animal testing centers with your posse and picket signs because animals there are treated *far* less humanely. Humane isn't even an adjective that can be utilized for animal testing centers.
I would never leave my dog locked up in the backyard permanently but a lot of people do. For a lot of people dogs aren't cute cuddly house animals, many people use them as serious house protection, akin to a firearm. The dogs may be just barely socialized and listen solely to the owner and trained to attack the throat of anyone else.
Gotta stay cognizant of the fact that each of us lives differently and has a different set of values but as long as we don't harm each other, or one another's property we should be left to live in peace.
Plenty of hood folks love their pits, especially in Philly btw. There are plenty of hardcore drug dealing murderers who don't fuck with dog fighting or dog rings and love their dogs like they love themselves; right in Philly.

i dont protest. im not an animal rights activist. as a matter of fact i dont bother to get behind any cause. but i can recognize un-necessary cruelty when i see it. and the big pit with the giant silver chain around its neck is a fashion statement regardless of your 2 cents
