Outdoor Surprise

Hey,

I left a Shitake block outside, just for fun.

I am in Southern California, and did not expect it to do anything,
but I did place it in the best shaded spot I could.

I found this today:

Outdoor fruits!

Take care,

JD

P.S. Straight sawdust block, using the 4:3 ratio for H2O
as suggested by Lipa.  A Fungi Perfecti strain.

Very nice!  I just picked my first shitakes and added em to one of those packages of egg-drop soup, was delicious.  My wife had to show me that you really have to drop egg into the boiling soup, a little at a time, hence the name "egg-drop soup".  Just a recommendation... I'm sure they would improve just about any dish.

:congrats:

Looking good brother!

I have room inside to fruit 4-6 of my blocks, and the rest are going
outside from my large shiitake run(Another 30+ blocks). Hopefully
they fruit properly outside and bugs are not to much of a problem.

How often do you mist or water your blocks brother?

Thanks ES.

EM, Hey bro.  ...that is the really surprising part.  I did
not water these more than a few times in the last couple
of months.  We have just had enough rain this season, I guess.

I have been doing experiments with my S blocks once their
first flushes were done.  The others have been drying out.
I am going to dunk them and put them back into fruiting conditions.

Take care,

JD
