Med students...
    #14413810 - 05/07/11 04:32 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Had an encounter with some med students the other night. This is what I got from the experience:

Atheism. They are very right, and anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot.

Sadism. The majority of the night was spent googling disfigurements and gruesome oddities...mostly in an attempt to lol the crowd.

Are all grad/med students like this?

doctors are usually horrible horrible people. (GF in med school, her brother is a doc, their dad is a doc, thus I know a lot of docs)

you forgot materialistic. If you see two turds for sale that are exactly the same but one costs more. it MUST be better.

very quick to pull the trigger and narrow minded too (not just on pulling the plug too)

crazy job though.. spend 12 years to become something and could loose everything to one law suite

most doctors have a parent thats a doctor i noticed

Atheism and skepticism of religion is often thought of as a hallmark (stereotype) of academia.  Its common in all fields of higher education, probably more so in the sciences.

They're med students.  They probably got into the field because they find the human body (and its disfigurements) interesting.  Probably like most other professions, anytime you introduce yourself as "Dr." or tell people what you do, they automatically have preconceived thoughts about you.

it probably has to do with the fact that if you cant find humor or be emotionally unphased by gross deformations of the body and injuries you would be a horrible doctor.

my sister works in an ER and sometimes the shit she tells me about makes me feel sick to my stomach, but she talks about it like nothing big happened.

 if you cant handle looking at that kind of shit up close and personal, how would you be able to help fix it?

Med students are socially inept geeks, by definition.

Well I guess its the way you go about it. I would have expected some sort of professionalism. These guys were showing off all this weird shit purely for amusement.

Weird shit is amusing. Sometimes even while it's tragic.

Drug-addicted babies, for example.
A terrible tragedy by any standard, but kind of a hoot to work with.
Tiny, tiny junkies. You've never seen anything like it, unless you've seen adult junkies.
It's hilarious. Some three week old baby saying (crying) "Dude, you gotta hook me up, man. C'mon man, I need it. Just a taste. Be cool man, please!"

Yes, all med students are assholes.
All of them.
I know this because I've met a handful.
Trust me in this, I know what I'm talking about.

Also, all Muslims are terrorists, because they hate are freedums, and all gay guys want to fuck you up the butt when you aren't looking.
And all black guys will steal your bicycle.

I could go on...
