Cats, the cities Rats

i live in a 2 story Rowhouse in the city practically on top of our neighbors. in this city, Roving Bands of Diseased Stray Cats dominate the streets. these are the cities "rats" or our version of "the Dogs of Fallujah". its a well known problem to the residents. at times you will see people in C.D.C.-esq Tyvek Bunny Suits pulling these things out of abandoned buildings and stuffing them into carriers to incinerate. sounds cruel, but take one look at these things they are all interbred with their long faces, half of them bleed out of their ass, foam at the mouth, and looking at their eyes the white part is blood red reminds us of 28 Days Later.
these things are vicious and diseased-ridden, if you have a small dog/animal beware letting it out in the yard alone these things travel in packs and will attack your animal on sight. its a huge problem when trashy people feel bad for them and put food out this attracts large numbers of them and promotes diseased infested breeding grounds. our neighbors behind us were notorious for this until last summer when their pitbull was attacked by them. they since stopped feeding them, but the problem still persists. the cats will not go away. the pack numbers just keep rising as they all breed with each other.
they pee and poop disease on everything in your yard, grill, table, chairs etc they rip your trash open, you cant have anything outside.. believe it or not they all hang out in the alleys or on the roofs of 2 to 4 story Rowhouses you can see them walking along rooftops its quite strange how they get up there. im starting to get so annoied now they are waking us up between 3-4am running around on our roofs turfing them up with their claws and fighting with each other.
i have no idea how to combat them. i wouldnt want to use poison since i have animals and so do other people, but i cant help but to picture an Oversized Rat Trap snapping down on top of them and breaking their necks. thinking about looking into putting aluminum on my roof. i heard people do this in the suburbs to keep squirrels off their roof and out of their trees.
anyone else have any ideas?

Throw poisoned food actually on the roof? surely only the stray's go up there, and they will probably avoid your roof once they see its a graveyard!

If they ever got me to that point of annoyance that your at I would sit atop my roof every night for a good three hours popping what ever sorry bastard decided to wander into my yard. Few rounds from a .22 air rifle and there wont be a cat thats gonna be able to walk away, and honestly the description you gave of them sounds repulsive
There quiet enough that no ones gonna be disturbed by it either.

28 days later Killing cats is wrong... It's like telling some one they are fat. Although it needs to be said it's still fucked up.

In my opinion cats should be treated slightly better than cows are treated in India.
Many years ago some cops put out some traps in my neighbor's yard to capture the many outdoor cats that lived around her property.
They next day the cops came back to retreive their pile of scrap metal.

It had to many metal tags sealed on to it that said properity of sherrifs department. Also I sorta wanted the cops to find their cages trashed.
new cages did not appear.

Sorry ellen, but I love cats. The reason they are in such a bad condition where you live is not because they are evil animals. It's because some human shit abandoned them and left them uncared for in the first place.

i really do feel bad for 'pets' in this city, and on my block alone. its sad. everyone has a pitbull, not for a pet, not because they love it. because they think it makes them look tough. Pets are not a Fashion Statement. our neighbors behind us leave their beautiful pitbull outside all day and night rain snow sleet hail sunshine. the people that live 2 houses down do the same thing. they never let the dogs in and the backyards in the city are lucky to be 5x5ft. its sad because you can hear the dogs howl and push their food bowls around because their never fed enough either. when i first moved in i tried to call animal cruelty and i was told flat out belligerently, "we do not come for Cats & Dogs" NO LIE! i was like, are you F_ing kidding ME!! so i called animal control, and it was the same thing! so now i dont know what to do. these poor animals are all weathered and tattered i would go beat their owners heads in if i could. but im barely 4 ft, and the people behind us are thugged out, hugely built, tatted down puerto ricans, and the other ones are overweight white trash, i wouldnt stand a chance

Fox urine is reputed to deter cats, if you just want to keep them out of your yard. I think Amazon carries a couple products. One of the reviews of a product on amazon says even hardware stores carry it.
If you're going fatal, I wouldn't go poison. Seems like it'd be ripe for unintended consequences. Gun, you might not be able to afford. Slingshot + ball bearings = cheap and lethal. I think even walmart carries hunting slingshots. I'd also buy a shovel, so the neighborhood doesn't just become littered with twitching cat corpses.

Different people live differently. If this bothers you you should be down at the animal testing centers with your posse and picket signs because animals there are treated *far* less humanely. Humane isn't even an adjective that can be utilized for animal testing centers.
I would never leave my dog locked up in the backyard permanently but a lot of people do. For a lot of people dogs aren't cute cuddly house animals, many people use them as serious house protection, akin to a firearm. The dogs may be just barely socialized and listen solely to the owner and trained to attack the throat of anyone else.
Gotta stay cognizant of the fact that each of us lives differently and has a different set of values but as long as we don't harm each other, or one another's property we should be left to live in peace.
Plenty of hood folks love their pits, especially in Philly btw. There are plenty of hardcore drug dealing murderers who don't fuck with dog fighting or dog rings and love their dogs like they love themselves; right in Philly.
