I found a huge patch of mushrooms that look just like these fairly close to where i usually pick my subs, but i'm not sure if they are or not.
are there any common inactive mushrooms in melb that look very similar to subs fully grown?

Yes the most common two that you will find are Stropharia aurantiaca and Galerina marginata.
