Yeah I'm just writing informally--usually, a semicolon separates two related sentences, and I was being lazy (i.e. Mexican) about typing out an entire sentence preceding the semicolon (e.g. "Nah, I don't like rap" instead of just "Nah"). Had I done that, it would have been a proper use of the semicolon.
