spiders and bed bugs
    #14413982 - 05/07/11 06:27 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Spotted a rather large (by UK standarts) spider on the floor the other day... before i could get it it dived under my couch and now lives somewhere inside of it

It was big... but spiders are OK ? My friend says he used to keep spiders in his closet and theyd get other insects

Spiders are ok, they'll eat your mosquito.

If they're not those venomous ones that go into your shoes and when you notice you got bit while putting on your shoe.
But you can check if you have venomous spiders in your area, being big doesn't necessarily mean it's dangerous.

This kind of fucker?

If they are out in the open and smaller than this I'll get them onto a transport device like a knife and put them down a bush outside but if they're nasty like this I leave them and hope they go back whence they came.

the only spiders i let hang around the house are dady longlegs, everything else goes because there's a shitload of poisonous spiders and i bet most active spiders in a house feed on you at night every once in a while.  I mean im sure there's some stuff in the walls to eat and a few things on the floor, but if there running around your floors and your walls i dunno it just seems like there hunting me sometimes

Yeah I saw them. I was high as fuck and they didn't bother me, it was kind of beautiful...

But those fucking house spiders look so sinister. All hunched over and looking like they're ready to pounce...

I let the non-poisonous fuckers crawl around, they eat other insects so it's a win/win.

Now brown recluses and black widows are a different story. Those motherfuckers get stomped in the nuts around here.

In the U.S. the only spiders to worry about are black widows and brown recluses. More so brown recluses because not only are they wandering spiders  but they can leave nasty bite marks behind.

And black widows, unless your allergic you wouldn't necessarily have to go to a hospital.

What the hell are you talking about? There are only about 5 types of dangerously poisonous spiders in America. Spiders eat bugs, not human flesh. Someone's been watching a little too much sci-fi.

and as for bedbugs.. never come into contact with one, and i hope it stays that way.

:werd: as far as I know the way most spiders feed is by liquefying the insides of their prey and sucking the juice out.. I don't think they can do that very well with humans

i have some spiders in my garage, started with one, now there are a couple. Same spot, haven't really ventured into the house as far as i know. I feel like they live here because i see them every day. They haven't really bothered me, and as long as it doesn't bother me or anyone in the house they stay. We don't really have to worry about bugs now a days, it's just in our genes, through evolutionary preparedness. We have hospitals and everything now, so if you get bit, you'll be taken care of.

My dad got bit in the nut sack by a brown recluse.  True story.
It left a huge lump that he had to constantly drain by squeezing the puss out of it.
He has always been terrified of spiders even before that incident.
