Ego Trip
    #14411400 - 05/06/11 05:14 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

hey yall, i'm making this post about a trip i had with LSD but i wanted to post it here to possibly start some conversing.

a bit about me: i have taken lsd 7 times total now (never more then 2 tabs at once) which has been over the past year but i hadnt taken it in about 4-5 months since this trip, i have taken mushrooms once and they were actually psyclobin or psilocin pills that i took 2 doses of (each dose is supposed to be equivalent around 2.5 grams of mushrooms)

This was my first trip alone, i took the 2 tabs at around 11:50 pm and was pretty much just relaxing around the house meditating abit. on the come up i decided to make some beats. once i was certainly tripping i decided to lay down and avoid most sensory pleasure.
the thought process was beautiful, nothing negative this trip and some much room in my mind because there was nobody around. i HIGHLY recommend tripping alone, whenever i trip with people i cant let go of my ego/identity and take on others perceptions as my own. my "eureka" moment was actually realizing what people meant by "ego trip" i came to the realization that all of life is an ego trip, we dont know who we are, we are just going through this simulation of life: conditions and thoughts that teach us to believe we are a certain way, i realized that the only reason there is separateness among people is because our thoughts about eachother. i was actually laughing aloud at foolish i have been because of this underlying insecurity "who am i" even us "psychonauts" or "spirtual" people are on an ego trip by identifying ourselves, im not saying thats not who u are, but theres so much more to u then a label.

i dont know if i experienced ego death as it wasnt scary, i felt i just transcended my ego perhaps?

another thing: i experience some twitching in normal life and when i trip this is highly increased (twiching from my hip 5 times a minute) anyone else experience this?

thats my trip, thanks for reading.

Once you have become aware of the conditioned actions of your ego, you have already transcended it.  But it doesn't last very long, as the ego is very strong, and you have to come down some time.  Just keep up your regular practice.  If you are committed to awakening, you will think about your level of awareness more often, and over time will have more control over the behavior of your ego.  You will have more of a choice.

But some things you have to accept.  Personality and character are very difficult things to change, as they are either strongly conditioned over the span of your life, or genetic.  This quote comes to mind:

"A man should not strive to eliminate his complexes but to get into accord with them: they are legitimately what directs his conduct in the world." - Sigmund Freud

I had an ego crusher with VERY similar thought pattern about three months ago.
Life changer!  My closest friends and family made notice of a large positive change in my life.
I have literally turned my life around in three months largely due to discovering

nice :-)

i still don't know what people mean by ego death. the ego is a deeply integrated part of the being. it can be limited in your thoughts and your actions but it always exists. it is part of our experience in this lifetime. some moments with a psychedelic medicine we become very close to the heart and this allows some perspective over the ego. we see it and transcend it, like you say, and this is when we feel at peace.

in my experience, when people feel that fear it is a battle against the ego. instead of surrendering to their own inner truth and allowing the heart to lead through the ego, they stand up to it, stand up to themselves, feel a lot of fear and start to come down thinking they achieved something. the ego is very decisive when it comes to a lack of will and intention. i am glad you had such a profound experience. it's reading things like this that makes me think a heavy dosing of the worlds water supply of either psilocybin/psilocin or lsd would do some good. maybe release dmt/salvia fumes into the air as well

ego death = a silent mind

identity death = not knowing who or where you are in relation to the universe

but in regards to psychelics, i think the term gets used to mean any experience when the limiting valve of the ego is widely opened and the firm sense of "me" isn't quite the same.  i've had experiences where my ego expanded like a million times and i felt like i could see my past present and future all at once, and so could everybody else, that's not ego death but it kind of comes down to the same thing...the blasting away of the conditioned mind

I took 5+ grams of mushrooms earlier this year. Sat out in the forest with a mate, with intentions of revealing truths. Climbing up my trip, i was questioning my identity, realizing its falsehood. I was exposed to the true nature of the ego and its hollow quality and vice grip on our being. Before my peak i discovered that we are all just one united conscious thing. It didn't make sense to me how we separate ourselves so much for the growth of our identity. I lost my ego for a great portion of the trip. I was terrified that i had damaged some part of my mind because identity didn't make sense to me any longer. and fabricating your normal life/thoughts, ego and memory back together is a very unsteady process. The raw truth that we live in an illusion, though its how humans function. The most intense experience coming to grips with it and finding that understanding. I've been feeling fragile the past few months. I wanted to contribute to the growth of humanity in a way of just improving our means of development (sustainable energy ect.). Now i see that there lies a problem at the core of what we are. The lack of understanding of our conscience/mental being is the real problem i believe. Here i am identifying 'problems' haha, just my food for thought along the same lines as this discussion i hope

Yes, we are losing around 50 species a day on average, when the back ground rate is 0, give or take.  So clearly the most important thing is to reverse the trend, and bring back harmony, lushness, beauty and paradise to this world.  However - take heart, it is happening at an ever increasing rate. . . the world is waking up more quickly than ever before, and already balance is being restored, it will be okay.  It is largely thanks to the efforts of people like you and me; it's also been going on since before time, however, that people wake up and share truth.  In my experience too, everything of these spiritual realizations only makes sense if it can bring real transformation to the world, specifically, for peace, and to protect all species - it seems like a revolution of values to put this as our best goal is in order.

On a higher vision, everything is infinite, as many have seen - but in the world of time and space, certain rules still apply; so the best thing I could share would be to protect and maintain yourself - your body, mind heart and energy - so that you can share light, strength, peace and hope with others - you can be a beacon, or a quasar of hope in the world.  In other words, at every point, simply choose renewal; so that you will always be protected.  One important point is that we can live in harmony with the cosmos, and the universe, and the planet, and all other life forms - it is a lie to say that for one to be happy, others must be ground under - look at all our divine teachers - Christ, Saint Anthony, Saint Francis, Milarepa, Rumi, Dogen, Lao Tzu, they all knew how the harmony of nature can lead to divine peace and bliss - we can be that loving, that kind, to nature as well, and from this, great and true peace will come.

In one state of mind, it doe seem like there  is a lot to do - but don't worry, be happy; your work will succeed.  Don't worry about the past or the future - only light your candle, and step forward.
