What do you do with your used substrate/spent cakes?

I dump mine by the local river.  I am doing the local environment a favour.

It does cross my mind to start a balcony garden with it.

What do you do with yours?

I'm curious, why dump your old spawn/substrate at the river? Find a secret spot near your place where you can watch it.

I dumped mine in the ivy outside. Had a few come up. 8 grams dry outdoor freshies.

Did Akira have to flush it because he lives in Japan or something? His name sounds Japanese.

By the way, did you ever get a sterile azure print?

I put them in a bag, walk through the alley a nearby complex, and throw it in their dumpster.

WHAT THE!! as if you guys dont chuck them in your back yard (if ya have one, assuming your in an apartment), in the compost or in a park! it not only has the chance of fruiting more but can also fruit (you miss it) and then grows more mycelium somewhere else for you to find. I personally mix it through a compost/poo mix and dump it in a shady spot at the base of some trees, mycelium grows, trees get nutrients WIN:WIN

If I lived in an apartment I would put used substrate in the trash.
Or find a friend with a yard and compost it there. A good friend.

Put a half full beer near the spot laying on it's side, the slugs will be attracted to the beer, go in and drown.
You can also make a line of rock salt about 4-6 feet away going in a circle all the way around the spot, slugs can't cross a salt line.

As for the larva and pupa in the gills, just added protein, lol just kidding.

You could always make some electric koolaid or some tea out of them. The boiling water would probably kill the deadly parasites waiting to latch onto your intestines...maybe...

Find a secret spot near your place where you can watch it = the river.

8 grams is fuck-all.  Not really worth my while.  Still, each to his own.

I throw mine in my  brother's backyard. We got tons of outdoor fruits last year with little work.

i put mine in the old lady's hostas next door. the hosta provided a microclimate and allowed just enough light to get through. every time we had a cookout, i would look under the hosta and eat all the little cubes. my friends looked at me weird until they realized i was eating cubes and not some random LBM.

i live in a flat, So i just chucked used substrate in a bag along with other rubbish. I didnt grow that much so it wasnt like i was dumping huge amounts of substrate.

we dont have the right conditions for cubes here so an outdoor grow wouldnt work.
