Canoeing on 3 Grams
    #14390621 - 05/02/11 07:15 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Went canoeing yesterday with my dreadlocked friend on a river near my homeland. Departed friend's house at 9am. Got on the river and dosed 3 grams at about 9:30am. (I had crumbled up my dose and put it in a juice I had along. Seemed to hit me very fast.)

Around 10am we hit some mild rapids which were a rush and I instantly start feeling the affects. It was about 54 degrees outside, partly sunny. The wind was 10-25mph with gusts up to 35mph. As we are paddling we talk briefly, as friends do. Visuals start getting really intense at the 10:15am mark. Since it was so windy, the trees were waving in great choreography in relation to one another. I remember vivid wavy greens of all tints. The beauty of trees and nature seems to come alive and welcome us.

At roughly 10:30am we notice sturgeons spawning near some rocks on a bank in the river. We shore the canoe 10 feet past the fish and walk up the river to investigate. There must have been at least 10 monstrous, prehistoric, majestic sturgeons all mellowing out. My friend and I were able to touch and pull these beasts right up to us and enjoy their company. Their vibes were super chill and this was a great part of our day. At this time I noticed the colors of the land around us really "popped." All the earth tones and the beauty of the trees perplexed me, as they never fail to do. After taking it all in, taking a few pictures, and enjoying the rare experience, we decide to get back into the canoe.

From 11-11:30am we continue down stream. I remember thinking to myself on numerous occasions, "I should have dressed warmer." However, I always kept it positive and rowed on. There were certain stretches of the river where the 35mph gusts tested our strengths and almost pushed us to shore. But we went on.

Around 12pm we get to a tree that my friend labels the "tree of life." We shore the canoe and lay under the tree for about 10 minutes. I recall laying back looking up to the sky and being so thankful for everything. This tree we were under sure was something. At this point I closed my eyes for extended periods of time and enjoyed the close-eye visuals. They were gorgeous. The only way I can think of explaining them in in the traditional "geometric pattern" of interlacing and moving/rotation jewels or cells.

After floating down the river some more, we spot a rope swing and stop to chill. Its about 12:30-1:00pm and we start eating tons of fruits and rehydrate. After talking and chilling for a bit, my friend climbs a vine hanging over the water. He decides he wants to take a picture. Quickly, he tosses the camera to me and I drop it right into the water and drifts away. It was only an 80 dollar camera, but the loss of the camera was so intense and amplified. I felt terrible, but he assured me it was okay, since it wasn't a good idea to throw the thing in the first place while we were under the influence. It was such a shame to lose all the pictures, too.

From here on out we get back in the canoe and start to get closer and closer to baseline/sober. When this happened, the sun came out and the wind died down. An excellent way to end the experience. Overall it was a 5 hour float. The weather wasn't the greatest, but we made the best of it. It was my first time eating mushrooms without smoking weed. I actually loved it. Haven't smoked in a week and if I don't smoke again I wouldn't mind.

I have two big 'rooms that weigh 3.8g in total saved for next time that it feels right. I plan on dosing these alone. Anyways, enough rambling. Thanks for taking the time to read my first report (not first trip) and happy trails!

Sounds awesome! I plan on taking a trip down the river with shrooms, beers, pot, and some friends. Sorry about the camera  Live and learn I guess.

Going kayaking in 2 weeks.  Definitely excited to dose.  How does it feel on the water?

Feels very natural and at home. Balance is still easy to maintain. Really loved being on the water. The scenery and environment around the water is breathtaking. You will feel like Lewis and Clark (or at least one of them haha), and you'll have a great time! Enjoy!

That's a great report man. I'm glad you had a good day. I know what you mean about wishing you had dressed warmer, but you did the right thing by just going with it. It sounds like a magical day. Losing pictures is always a bummer but the camera can always be replaced.

Word. He actually just bought a $1,000 camera off of craigslist for $500. Said he wanted a nice one anyway. Went canoeing again yesterday and took pictures with it. Very good quality. It's a Nikon D80X I think.
